Compared to Tokyo, Nagoya isn't a great city for vegans. Although Nagoya is a seriously big city, the number of vegan restaurants is disappointingly low. So one has to resort to alternatives like restaurants that have vegan options. "Taco Fanatico" is a Mexican food bar that serves meat and fish, but also has some vegan options.
Read moreThe vegetable taco is small (two bites and it's gone) but tasty and rich in ingredients. Then there's the guacamole, which is basically mushed avocado with salty chips. For a real meal Taco Fanatico offers a salad bowl. While it comes with cheese and egg as standard, the staff understands what "vegan" is and used roaster cauliflower instead. Not bad at all!

I loved the vegan taco, was just as a tacos should be: tasty and with few simple Ingredients.

Loved the fries with Mexican spices too.
Would be great to have a second taco option maybe with a form of protein.

There's one vegetable taco to try here (at least from our trip) and a few additional veg appetizers to choose as well.

Vegan friendly restaurant - Edit
My boyfriend and I had a 1500 yen holiday lunch set. The staff kindly customized the Cobb salad to vegan, and put some extra veggies- avocado and quinoa. She let me choose the types of veggies for the extra toppings. The guacamole was tasty too.

We dropped in here for some afternoon tea and coffee and had a vegan taco each. They were delicious, but very small, it's okay for a little snack with a drink but for lunch or so...probably not. Maybe eating four or five pieces with fries and nachos might be enough.

Taco restaurant on Hisaya Odori by the mirai tower. The nachos and the vegan taco is vegan. Nice experience and friendly staff. I wish they had more vegan options and some vegan cheese, but optimistic that maybe they will increase with time.
