Went at an off time 3:30 on a Saturday. We got to chat with the owner and it was a lovely experience. We had the scallion pancake, garlic noodles, veggie dumplings and the game-changing General Tso’s Mushrooms!!

Delicious and Big Portions - Edit
The restaurant may be small but the portions aren’t! They have a lunch special for 12.95$, one appetizer plus one main course. My fiancé ordered the steamed dumplings and Ramen, I also ordered the steamed dumplings and my main course was Mapo Tofu with white rice. All the food was delicious, we were both unable to finish our meals so we took the leftovers to go. For a small restaurant they have a decent selection of beer.

I've been to Spicy Moon a few times before, and the Wontons in Chili Oil live up to the hype: this dish is scrumptious!
Read moreI ordered the Mapo Tofu and Vegetable Ramen dishes for the first time as lunch specials. Both were delicious and also heavy, which is why you can eat one dish for two meals-- that's what I did, at least!

Amazing Vegan Szechuan Food - Edit
Finally made it to this spot and so glad I did! Wow, the food was absolutely amazing. Flavors were on point, service was great, and the food came out super quick, even tho it was busy.
Read moreWe got the scallion pancake, Dan Dan noodle bowl, a fried tofu/veggie dish (can't remember the name, eek), and dumplings. All very tasty.
Definitely pay attention to the spicy ratings as the Szechuan food is known for being spicy and they don't hold back here! Though the dishes without the hot pepper icon on the menu were not spicy in case you're not into that (i can't tolerate a ton of spice tbh and I was fine). Yet even the non-spicy dishes had tons of flavor, so you won't be missing out.
Would recommend reserving in advance. We showed up at 5:30 on a Tuesday and there was a 20 min wait which was fine but much later than that and the wait got much longer. We were seated outside and saw a fair amount of ppl turn away after being told the wait time. Heads up! There is also a second Spicy Moon location in the West Village, fyi! Haven't been to that one yet tho.

You gotta try this place - Edit
Once our waiter brought out my friend’s dish, I knew just from the smell alone that it was game over. We ordered the tofu edamame nuggets and those were SO FULL of flavor - so dynamic yet cohesively worked together to create a delicious flavor. They were addicting. The veg noodles are just so so good. You cant go wrong here.

Tasty and authentic cuisine. Food arrives very fast so that does make me wonder how fresh it is although it tasted great. I wasn't a fan of the lighting in this restaurant and the music was really fast so it would get you to eat faster and get out. But the food was yum.

Inauthentic and Badly Seasoned - Edit
I really cannot understand the fantastic reviews surrounding this restaurant. I visited and ordered a variety of dishes off the menu and was genuinely so disappointed. My dan dan noodles were sweet and tasted nothing like they are supposed to. The mapo tofu lacked ma and the beyond meat overpowered all of its other flavors. Maybe I am just spoiled from all the Chinese restaurants in my home city of Vancouver, but this place was so overpriced, weirdly sweet and disappointing.
