Disappointing this time - Edit
We visited Sicilian NQ on a Saturday evening with a pre-booking and opted for the set menu deal. The price was £25 for three courses, with a reduced price of £20 for vegans. Unfortunately, as bookings have to be made in bulk, the two vegans in our group still had to pay the higher rate. This felt a little unfair, but the menu itself offered good value and the food made it worthwhile.
Read moreWe’ve visited Sicilian NQ before and the food has always been exceptional. The menu has a fantastic number of vegan options, something rarely seen in Italian restaurants. The chefs clearly put care and passion into the dishes, and once again everything we ordered was delicious.
Sadly, the service really let things down. From arrival, staff seemed unwelcoming and rushed. When I asked about the set menu, it was explained in a very brief, dismissive way. The restaurant was busy, but the attentiveness just wasn’t there, and it left us feeling uncomfortable.
The atmosphere was also difficult at first, with music so loud it felt more like a club than a restaurant. It was overwhelming and made conversation almost impossible. Thankfully, after a while the volume was lowered, which improved things.
The one service highlight was a young waitress who kindly let us sample wines before committing to bottles, which was thoughtful and appreciated. Unfortunately, the evening ended badly when we were suddenly told to vacate the table without warning, despite still having wine left. At no point during booking, arrival or the meal were we informed of a time limit, nor given a reminder. This abruptness left us feeling rushed out.
In the past, one staff member has occasionally come across as abrupt, but usually the rest of the team balance this out. Sadly, this time two staff members made us feel unwelcome, which overshadowed the excellent food.
This has always been a family favourite, and it feels disappointing to write this. The food remains outstanding, but service and atmosphere must match it.
Pros: Vegan options , Clearly labelled vegan options, Tasty food
Cons: Cramped, Loud, Rude staff

So many options! - Edit
Its a cosy vibe small restaurant. Id recommend booking for busy times as it was packed when we went on a Saturday night. Despite this all the food came quickly and it was delicious I had the pistachio tagliatelle and vegan tiranisu both were really tasty and good portion size.

Food never disappoints but service was poor this time - Edit
There was 6 of us that visited after watching Steps the Musical. It was a Saturday night and was busy, but this was to be expected as it’s only a small cosy venue. Woman that booked us in and showed us to our table appeared standoffish. Young girl who took our drinks order and let us taste the wine was lovely, helpful and friendly and a credit to the restaurant. Food arrived fast despite it being busy. As always, selection and quality of vegan options was 5/5. Delicious and good portion size. Wine was nice too. Unfortunately the service did let it down, except the young waitress. Starters weren’t cleared before mains arrived and we did ask for a break after main course before our deserts came out which didn’t happen. We were also asked to leave the table quite suddenly when we still had wine left. I understand that’s normally the case but I think the message could have been delivered in a friendlier way, given a 10 minute warning and I feel we should have been told this upon arrival.

Cons: Majority of staff standoffish/ boarding on rude, Cold when door left open if you’re sat at front, Communication was poor (e.g. time on the table)

Sicilian NQ - Edit
Great food. Lots of vegan options - there’s a separate vegan menu. Authentic Italian vibe. Had meatballs, garlic bread, tiramisu and an aperol spritz! Will definitely be back.

More vegan than you expect - Edit
All dishes in the menu can be made vegan. Loads are vegetarian. Basically in terms of not veggie they got only 2 options in the menu. Great choice of vegan desserts

Lots if options - just above average food - Edit
I was excited to see so many vegan or veganised options on the menu. And also vegan deserts! I ordered the truffle tagiatelle (although I realised too late i was given spaghetti!) My mum had a gnocchi dish. Both nice dishes but under seasoned. The staff were nice and offered a limonciello on the house when they heard it was my birthday, which was nice.
