Second branch of this vegetarian restaurant in HCMC opened in 2020. The name Shamballa is of Sanskrit origin meaning a place of peace, stasis, and joy. Serves drinks and Vietnamese classic dishes like pineapple fried rice, fried lotus root, hot pot, and rice paper rolls. Menu items containing gluten or nuts are labeled. Open Mon-Sun 7:00am-10:00pm.

Wholesome experience - Edit
Beautiful restaurant with a unique menu. The owner or chef has obviously put much thought and creativity into their menu and it is very apparent throughout the dining experience. Not fully vegan unfortunately, but seems the vast majority of the menu is vegan and very clearly marked. Seems just a few dishes are made with eggs. I tried 3 of their appetizers and 2 noodle dishes - all were extraordinary, from presentation to plating to flavor complexity. Service was good, staff seems cheerful and extra polite. The restaurant is decorated very nice and has a small outdoor patio as well as indoor air conditioned sitting areas. Has a nice upscale feel to it. Prices are a bit higher than other vegan places in the area, but certainly reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended!

Very good quality - Edit
I found this place on Instagram. I don't really trust the review system in Vietnam because usually it is overly well judged without a proper reason.
Read moreBut this place was legit. Very good food, a very nice selection of dishes and a very charming atmosphere and kind staff. The only "bad" thing is the price. I don't want to complain about a 14€ dinner as a European, but you can find cheaper places I guess.
In any case, we loved it!

Experiência maravilhosa! - Edit

Delicious, except... - Edit
Really excellent food. However...
Read more-small serving size (had the eggplant dish main course) left me hungry
-no free glass of water if you don't order a drink, an extractive practice
-15% tax, another extractive practice that is antisocial and ugly
The latter two points are reliable acid tests for measuring the integrity of a restaurant.
Additionally, never give a restaurant that isn't 100% vegan 5 stars.
Think of the chickens.

Amazing appetizers - Edit
The atmosphere and decor at this Shamballa was really cute and welcoming, the staff were really Nice and the Food all-together was good! The appetizers were, though, definetly the thing worth remembering. We Got three different, and they were soooo good. The main courses we Got, was fine, but not that speciel(:

3rd visit - Edit
This was my 3rd visit to this restaurant. Oh the food is so good that you want to go back again. It is located in district 1 near intercontinental hotel. So if you are in Saigon center or nearby malls for shopping, do drop by this place for good and relaxing dinner.

So good we went there twice - Edit
Walked past Shamballa on our first night in Saigon. It looked lovely so we went there on the second night and had a fabulous meal - mushrooms, a tofu platter, delicious rice - and two outstanding mocktails.
Read moreWith a third night in Saigon we thought about alternatives, but there was so much we wanted to try on the Shamballa menu we ended up going back. The second meal was even better. More delicious mocktails with seared eggplant wrapped around strips of veggies and micro greens with a lime sauce, mushrooms in a black sesame crisp 'bowl', and a stir-fry of tofu and veggies with rice.
More expensive than other places but happy staff, great atmosphere, outstanding food and most definitely worth it.
Pros: Ambience, Amazing food and great choice, Lovely staff
Cons: Nothing at all - it's great!
