Serves meat, vegan options available. Restaurant offering vegan hot pot options with soy milk broth and vegetable stock. English menu available. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-10:00pm.
My non-vegan family had been craving shabu shabu and we were so happy to find a place that had a vegan option. I chose the vegetable broth and ordered extra tofu (in addition to the many veggies it came with). The server informed me of which sauces/toppings contained fish and which ones were vegan. Overall it was delicious and a fun experience for the family. Very filling, too.
I haven't eaten here so this isn't actually a review, but I want to make sure people are aware.
I checked the restaurant's menu and website but I see no mention of any of the soups being vegan or vegetarian.
It is very very common in Japan for soup and stocks to contain animal products even if they seem like they "should" be vegan. e.g. I have seen "konbu dashi" that contained fish extracts and "vegetable broth" that contained chicken extract. You cannot just assume that something is vegan unless it's explicitly stated to be.
So unless someone has contacted the restaurant and actually confirmed which soups are vegan, I would proceed with caution here.
Just ate there today and yes, they have a vegetable broth in addition to vegetable and tofu option for contents of the soup. I even asked for 2 sauces I thought were vegan and the staff told me those two contained fish, and instead directed me to the vegan sauces.
This was a great find, highly customisable and I could eat happily alongside my meat eating wife, food was delicious to boot and staff knowledgable about what was ok to eat
Solid Shabu Shabu place where each person gets their own pot - perfect for vegetarian/vegan travelling with meat eaters. Had multiple options for soups!
