Don’t recommend, but could be good with some small changes

I wanted to like this place. The woman who runs it is lovely- and she was running it all by herself, but I can’t say the value or flavor was worth it at all. My food also didn’t come out until my partner- who eats meat- was basically finished.

They have one vegan option that has its own menu—For about 5900 yen you get a pot of *plain water*; a plate of mostly non-substantial vegetables like lettuce and mung bean sprouts with some very tiny pieces of unflavored soy meat (that get lost in the pot), a small pile of (rice?) noodles and some small pieces of tofu; a plate of mushrooms (these were awesome); then some rice and ramen noodles at the very end.

It was insulting to sit with someone getting the regular shabu shabu which is two actual flavors of broth and endless meat, and be there with my pot of plain water and unflavored fake meat shapnel that came out like 30 mins after the person I was with— with the mushrooms taking an additional 10-20 mins even after that— after my partner already had all his food and we were basically ready to leave. This was a very bad experience.

It wouldn’t take much to make the vegan option palatable. Some actual broth, some other meat alternative, maybe some heartier vegetables to compensate for the lack of substance from meat. But this was flavorless, not filing, took forever, and for the price was not worth it at all.
