Hello from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam! Our first meal here was at Sen Vegan Restaurant. We Vietnamese rice paper /veggie/tofu rolls with peanut dipping sauce 👌🏻

The waiters know English so it's pretty easy to communicate. Seating on the floor which may be a challenge for some people but we loved it.

We have ordered from Sen vegan house two times now via Grab. We ordered chili-lemongrass tofu, tofu with mushrooms and some mushroom dish, also fried rice and potato dish. All were good. We also ordered finger foods like spring rolls, wontons and fried lotus. I especially loved the fried lotus which I tasted for the first time. They made the food quickly and the grab guy was also fast to deliver them. Would recommend!

A very large menu so there is plenty to choose from. The prices are rather high and do not include tax. I ordered porridge and what I got was basically soup with rice, but it wasn't bad.

I wanted to love it but the service here was really bad. No one noticed me for 10 minutes. Forgot to bring me rice with the food and it was brought only when I was finished with everything. The food was alright, but had better in Vietnam.

Had a great meal at Sen, including fresh and fried spring rolls, pineapple rice and Thai fried mushroom salad. All very tasty and when I got the bill I couldn’t believe it was only 250k dong!

Lotus Galore 🪷 - Edit
We had so many wonderful dishes here. Among 9 of us, we took the lotus braised in sauce, lotus seed soup, a curry, fried lotus, greens with fried garlic, rice in lotus leaf, crispy taro balls, and more. Everything was delicious, though I didn’t care much for the red rice in lotus leaf. Great service and lovely menu. Yum 😋

Read moreThe atmosphere was very unfriendly, formal, and sterile. We were never welcomed to the restaurant, offered any menu suggestions, or asked how our food was.
We ordered the taro appetizer because I love taro and thought it would be hard to go wrong. From the description I expected it to be pieces of taro, coated and deep fried, which sounds delicious. But taro was mashed into very unappealing mushy texture, and was mostly greasy, lacking any flavor. It was hard to pick up a ball with chopsticks without it squishing apart. Neither of us could finish it.
For my main dish I ordered the vegan wings as it sounded quite unique. What I got was just 2 unremarkable wings on a plate - barely enough for a snack despite the high price and the listing under ":favorite dishes"
My companion ordered "bamboo shoots braised with shiitake mushroom" but it had a terrible bitter taste. My companion is familiar with cooking bamboo shoot and said it was a clear sign of not cooking it properly.
The only thing we liked was the tri-milk drink.
Overall, one of the worst meals we had in Vietnam. I'm not sure where the rave reviews are coming from.
