Decent falafel 🥙

While the vegan options are limited, the falafel was pretty good. Portions were small, but nothing terribly surprising for the Bay Area.

Not many vegan options

Although their couple of vegan items are pretty good, it’s hard for me to understand why Saul’s would make the cut for Happy Cow with so many other nearby restaurants offering so many more options and lot less meat on their menus in general.

Pleasant Surprise

I try not to support restaurants that profit on selling so much meat. But I had a visitor who wanted to go. I was surprised there were vegan options. The pita sandwich was delicious. Someone at this deli knows Middle Eastern food. Then again, it is located in Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto. 😀

Amazing vegan options

The yuba gyro is incredible, like nothing I’ve had before. They also have yummy homemade sodas — I got the toasted celery soda. The falafel and tahini is good too.

pleasantly surprised by the Yuba Pita

was not expecting much from Saul’s, since had not heard it had any vegan options at all. got the Yuba Pita, and it was super, super awesome. other things looked very veganizable (mushroom Reuben 👀) but didn’t ask since the pita was v different and interesting from other pita wraps I’ve seen! great drink menu too.

Pros: good price, Jewish classics, some vegan, fun drink menu

Cons: not fully vegan rip, usually crowded
