Mouth-watering food with impeccable service

We had visited Roots Bistro three times and we were extremely satisfied wth the quality of the food, as it far exceeds our expectations. The price is moderately expensive but highly affordable, and its food tasted better than fine dining. The service was warm, friendly, and approachable.

On our first visit, we had ordered Trio plant-based meat with rice, raddish cake and basmathi oil rice. The “meat” portion was extremely filling and we love this dish. The reddish cake was a bit of disappointment as it wasn’t that fantastic, as compared to those we had tried before in other countries. As such, we craved to return another time to order other variety of dish.

On our second visit, we had ordered Char siew angel hair, Basmathi oil rice, and Laksa mashed potato. The char siew was delicious and the mashed potatoes were delectable and perfectly cooked. We loved the food and I would highly recommend to order the Laksa mashed potatoes again.

On our third visit, we ordered our dinner from the special Japanese menu, Japanese curry rice with crispy fresh lion’s mane and classic ramen. Both dishes were heavenly and we couldn’t resist coming to this restaurant again in the future. Unfortunately, this Japanese menu is only available for a specific time period, after which they will switch to other cuisine.

It is rare to chance upon a vegetarian restaurant that offers delightful dishes at affordable prices, and with an ambiance that is comfortable and a service that is impeccable. I would absolutely love to recommend this restaurant to all vegetarian and vegan, and yearn to return for more delectable dishes. The entire menu is in English and those dishes which contain egg or dairy are clearly labelled accordingly.

Pros: Delectable food, Impeccable service, Comfortable ambiance

Fabulous food and service as usual

Since they left JB, I have been craving for their food and finally I am here in KL to satisfy my cravings!

Truffle Mash Potato is something new and we loved it!

Pros: Netter Service, Große Auswahl, Schnelle Bedienung

Cons: Stark unterschiedliche Portionsgrößen, etwas teuerer

Great taste, small portions

A very good vegetarian restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Great service and great tasty food.
The size of the portions is on the small side, however, which is a shame.

Pros: Taste, Food variety, Service

Cons: Size of portions

Amazing and creative vegetarian food

Very creative and delicious veg food that we can rarely find in veg restaurant or even non veg restaurants. Must-try items will be their laksa spaghetti, truffle ravioli with morel mushrooms and Kimchi risotto. Amazing!

Fantastic

The mushroom laska is a proper creation, not just "laksa without meat and seafood". Great concept, very creative (eg laksa mashed potato) and desserts look amazing. Very comfortable, good value, excellent service. If I lived in KL I'd be here all the time

Pros: Laksa laksa, Service, Vibe

Creative Fusion Dishes

Happy that Roots has opened up in KL. It's another place we can bring our non-vegan friends and family to.

Love the ambience - classy.

The menu is very interesting and creative. You'll find Malaysian favourites made fusion such as the Nasi Lemak Risotto or a Laksa Sourdough Stew with Sourdough “Naan”. I especially liked the sambal petai pizza. (The pizza is not labelled vegan but they veganised it for me upon request.)

All vegan dishes and option to be made vegan are clearly marked.

They also have a dining space upstairs and 2 private dining rooms, perfect for private celebrations.

I parked at Bangsar Village and it's just a short walk from the mall.

Great food and ambience

Wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, both Asian and Western, including many Malaysian favorites and creative takes on normally non-veg foods. The items I tried were of very good quality.

The dining room is clean and comfortable. Much care has been taken in the design, furnishings and tableware.

Open for breakfast (Fri-Sun), lunch and dinner. Menu is clear with markings for the various dietary preferences. If street parking is limited, many more spots are available nearby at Bangsar Village.

One of our fav veg places in KL

After we heard they have opened in KL, we decided to come patronise as we are fans at the Austin outlet.
Consistent food quality and presentation. Good customer service as well!

Pros: Curry fries a must order, Extensive range of food options, Free bread served with olive oil & vinegarette

Cons: Limited parking spaces, May have bad jam from city to Bangsar during peak

Unique but limited vegan options

Came here after seeing other reviews such as from this person RawChefYin below. I thought she was vegan and everything she posted must have been vegan like the pizza. But turns out they were not vegan and can't be made vegan too. I suppose she's Malaysia's version of an ex-vegan. The actually vegan options they had though limited were nice but hopefully this shop increases their vegan options because after going once or twice us actual vegans wont have much to try.

Hi, sorry you didn't get to eat the vegan pizza. They veganised the sambal petai pizza for me upon request. I've updated my review and also the caption for the photos to indicate that.

I'm still vegan, not an ex-vegan! I agree it would be good if they can increase their vegan options and I've also requested for that and they said they're working on it.
