Delicious and good value

We had a vegetable stew type thing with polenta. Delicious and only cost 6 euro for a portion (easily served 2).

Recommend not going at lunch time so that you don't hold up the local diners when working out what food is vegan.

Honest food

Simple food for hungry people; for example mashed potatoes and vegetable stew. Salad as a side with ingredients you point out (green beans, cabbage, beets, tomatoes, grated carrots etc.).

The staff speaks effortlessly English and are very helpful. Be sure to check the labels though, in some of the seemingly vegetarian/ vegan dishes they've used a beef broth stock.

Nice experience to eat between the locals having a lunch break.

Very cheap.

Great place

A cheap but good cantina with local food. Changing menu's but we had a bunch of vegan options to choose from. The person behind the counter was very friendly and instantly pointed out what's vegan for us when we asked.

Very happy with this place!

It's simple home-cooked food (canteen style), the ingredients are written for every dish, there's are a few vegan options, and salads... Most dishes cost only 3€.

Pros: Nice home-cooked, Vegan options, Price

Cheap and good

Went there after reading the other reviews here. The place delivered. There was hardly any customers, so you could possibly come with groups without problem. The dishes were labled in serbocroation and english, just takes time to read it. Allergens are clearly listed. I asked the server (in serbocroation as best I could) and she pointed out the dishes. I had a bean-potato soup, đuveđ (rise with veggies) and a salad. Portions are meant well, would have been enough for two! Tooj a water bottle and breat, all came in at 11.30€. But there was water caraffes behind the counter. Buy bottled water in a kiosk. Also there are spices to take to your seat. Đuveđ was not all hot, but I ate it second. I would go there again. For any budget a welcome respite and gives you an idea what pros a system without profit maximusation can provide!

Pros: Cheap, Few people, Healthy

Cons: Music (radio on)

Cheap healthy typical Yugodlavian food

A lot of vegan "side dishes" which however include many beans and other nutritious options. We paid 6€ for the full menu, and it felt healthy. Authentic mensa place. Would give 5 stars but this is not possible for not fully vegan places

Pros: Healthy, Cheap, Authentic

In-line semi-self service

There aren't many vegan options, what is vegan is actually the side dishes, although everything is very nice, home cooking, we like to go there for Đuveđ and home-baked fries.

It is an old restaurant, based on the principle of semi-self-service, very old school, Yugoslavian, we like it :)

Several types of salads, which you can combine as you wish, or take some that's already offered. Bread is charged per piece.

They have a daily menu, rarely vegan, you have to read the labels, the cooks working at the counter will help you, but I don't think they know English very well, I'm not sure.

Pros: Good prices, cheap enough, Good homemade food

Cons: Missing vegan labels

Cheap as chips! But no chips!

This place is a throw back to Yugoslavian times and worth checking out if only for that reason! But tbh Pula is so bad for vegan options that I decided this place should be listed even if like everywhere else here it is a daily festival of animal death and torture. They have a load of hot options you can choose in the first counter but they are all the remains and carcasses of our old friends. Then there are hot dishes which may be veggie or vegan. They change daily but they have their ingredients labelled so if you can work out which is which and translate serbo/Croatian you can get a meal for about 5 or 6 euros! Three different salad options in one bowl costs 2 euros. It’s not fancy but it’s food and it’s cheap. Thank you Tito.
