Delicious food! - Edit
I hadn’t been to NYC in a year and a half and decided to try a bunch of new places that I hadn’t visited before. There were 3 of us so we ordered both the Piassa and Mercato platters. Everything was delicious but I loved the lentil and greens dishes. We ordered the Mama’s Tofu as well and I think this was my favorite. Packed with so much flavor! Their cocktails are delicious as well.

Flavorful food, high prices - Edit
I heard great things about this place and tried it when I saw in the area. I didn't sit down for a full meal, but everyone raved about the sambusas, so I got an order. One of each type offered. They were great, don't get me wrong! But it was $8 for these two 2"x1" things and they were gone very quickly. The flavor was amazing as was the sauce. I would have ordered more, but $19 for the sampler platter just felt like too much for me. Would I go back? Maybe. But it would be rarely and only if I check my bank account first.

Amazing flavor - Edit
I tried this place for the first time the other night. I loved it – the overall experience was great. The flavors were spot on, the staff were all awesome, and the atmosphere is inviting. Highly recommend.
Read moreIt's also nice to have dishes that aren't replicas of meat/dairy dishes (at least to my knowledge). They feel authentic and very fresh.
Pros: Meals not replicas of meat/dairy dishes, Awesome taste

No complaints! - Edit
Happy to see another vegan restaurant in my neighborhood! I have nothing bad to say about this place. The maitre d and server were pleasant, atmosphere great. and food was beautifully presented and good. We got the mercado sampler plate, a tomato salad, and a empanada-like appetizer. Everything was good but nothing blew my mind. However in my experience I usually feel that way about Ethiopian food so that probably has more to do with the cuisine than anything.

Delicious - Edit
I was so worried for this place, which opened right before all of NYC shut down during the pandemic. They made it through the worst months somehow and now seem to be thriving, with takeout and outdoor seating under an awning/tent, like many local restaurants now. I shared the Vegan Sampler with my husband and my kids got Sambusas (flaky savory pastries). All was delicious. I'm so happy to have another great vegan restaurant in the neighborhood.

Really glad to see this vegan Ethiopian restaurant in Crown Heights! The food is fresh and delicious. The sambusas are amazing but get more than one order if you are planning to share. Vegan sampler is a good way to try different dishes.

Amazing local place - new fav! - Edit
I got takeout from here tonight and this place will definitely be a new favorite! Got the sampler with rice and awaze plus the lentil Sambusa and Injera rolls. Really yummy, great flavors, variety, textures, everything. Plus you get to support a local vegan black owned business! Can’t wait to dine in when quarantine is over.

Must Visit Gem Epic Plant-Based Ethiopian in Brooklyn - Edit
New plant-based Ethiopian restaurant just opened in Crown Heights. I'm blessed to have visited Bunna Cafe, a great vegan Ethiopian restaurant in Bushwick but sadly, it is a little e bit of a haul for us. We've been watching the progress of RAS and were so jazzed to try it. It's EPIC! Easily some of the best, freshest most vibrant food we've ever eaten. Please don't miss it. It's a MUST VISIT. We started with some Mocktails (no liquor license yet) and they were so good-didn’t even miss the booze. The Cold Fashioned was DELICIOUS. Ginger Lemonade so refreshing.
Read moreNext SAMBUSA app which we've had elsewhere but at RAS they had squash Sambusas! They were incredible. Really scrumptious. Couple beside us had Tomato FIT FIT salad and it looked delicious-a big serving. Our main was 2 platters for a family of three and it was plenty of food. My daughter only eats the YATAR TIK ALETCHA as it is mild and not too spicy. We got her an additional side order of that. She loved it! Most people that don't care for Ethiopian food have problems with the INJERA, a fermented crepe like sour bread made from Teff (a GLUTEN FREE WHOLE GRAIN). The food is served on it and you eat with it instead of utensils so if you don’t care for the taste of INJERA then Ethiopian can be tough. The INJERA we had a RAS was light and NOT a strong flavor so I can see where many people who'd not like injera typically would really like theirs-give it a try! Honestly I love TEFF and my preference would be for a TEFF flavored injera. RAS is going to be offering an all TEFF Gluten free INJERA soon. They didn't have it tonight (only 2nd night) but I suspect I'll be ordering it going forward. NOTE: There's rice if you want to forego the Injera and ask for a fork as well. It'd still be delicious and a great experience so go! Sorry I can't go into everything we had on our platters. They were smaller portions, each being plenty for two people to share and the total (maybe 12!?!) was more than enough food. Easily enough for four people to share if they order an appetizer and salad to go with it. The absolute best you could ask for, a paradigm of plant based eating!! The decor is stunning and even a little high end. You could definitely have a nice night out here and even dress up a bit. How can you not be thrilled for such a great restaurant with great food, amazing staff and sophisticated decor. The people of this neighborhood and of Brooklyn are very blessed. What a treat!
Pros: Fresh Plant Based Food, Amazing Mocktails, Excellent decor and atmosphere
Cons: Injera a challenge for some but RAS has options!, No alcohol yet (coming soon), Lots of spicy food. Talk to your Server!
