From Disappointment to Delight – Postkontoret’s Vegan Pizza Has Leveled Up
Read morePostkontoret used to serve what I can only describe as mediocre pizza—especially if you were vegan. The plant-based option was essentially a regular pizza with all the non-vegan elements stripped away and a handful of vegan cheese thrown on top. Same price, less substance. It often left a slightly bitter aftertaste—not just from the food, but from paying full price for something that felt like a compromise.
But things have changed.
As they occasionally do, Postkontoret has revamped their menu. While the general approach to veganizing non-vegan pizzas remains (swap the cheese, skip the meat), they’ve finally introduced two vegan-friendly options that genuinely feel thought through.
One is a classic veggie pizza—already nearly vegan by default—featuring a generous spread of aubergine, cherry tomatoes, olives, artichokes, and capers. Simple, yes, but the flavors are well balanced and the ingredients fresh.
More exciting, though, is the new vegan take on their pollo pizza. This one’s got vegan sour cream and vegan chicken, and it’s honestly in a category of its own. It brought back memories of the old Big One frozen pizzas from the ’90s and 2000s—nostalgic in the best way. It’s not just a passable alternative; it’s comfort food, done right.
Where I once thought Postkontoret’s pizza wasn’t worth mentioning, I now consider it one of the better vegan-friendly pizza places in Oslo.
Add to that a solid beer selection, a relaxed vibe, and a staff that actually knows what vegan means, and you’ve got a winner. Yes, the beer’s a bit pricey—like most places around Tøyen—but the atmosphere and prime location more than make up for it. And in summer, the outdoor seating is an absolute gem.

Good pizza and good beer - Edit
This is a cool place to grab some vegan pizza and listen to some live music. The pizza isn’t the best I’ve ever had, and pretty spenny, but it’s a nice place to go out and be with friends.
