Love Planta! - Edit
I’ve been plenty of times in FLL so I was psyched to order from Uber Eats when passing through DC. Went with the mushroom hand roll, the avocado beet tartare and a brownie sundae. All super delicious!

Very Bad Experience - Edit
I have been to many other PLANTA locations across the US and have had good past experiences but my visit on a Monday night to the PLANTA Queen in DC was about as bad as you can get.
Read more1. I arrived at 7:30PM. The restaurant had at least 50% of the tables open but I was told they were all reserved.
2. Made a reservation and when I returned at the designated time the hostess said she was going to prepare my table but then disappeared.
3. Another host took the customer next in line, who didn't have a reservation, directly to a table while I was still waiting for my table.
4. I was seated without a menu and waited a long time before I was noticed sitting at an empty table.
5. Almost every item on the menu was crossed out (see photo)
Why not print a new menu? Even if it is temporary.
Also, info about a very limited menu would have been good to know before I made the reservation with one hour of wait time.
6. Charged for an ordered drink that never arrived.
7. Long wait time for check. No apologies for any of the screwups.
The only up side to the night was it was Maki Monday and sushi rolls were $9. The rolls came out quick and were very good. The staff delivering the food and refilling water were friendly and good at keeping my water glass filled. My server was also friendly, the few times I saw them, but not in the least bit attentive.
The pay by phone link on the check was welcome and surely saved the time it would have taken to process a credit card.
I'm not sure what happened? Kitchen crew quit? No manager on duty? Definitely not the way to run a business.
Pros: Sushi rolls were tasty and made well. , The staff delivering food/water were friendly
Cons: 80% of the menu was not available, Poor customer service by hostess and server, Charged for a forgotten drink

Excellent - Edit
Food was delicious and very well presented. Pricey, though. But worth it when you want to treat yourself.

Atmosphere (chef’s kiss!) - Edit
Beautiful interior and overall location. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but that’s expected in the city. Seems pricey for the portions. I had the Torched and Pressed. I enjoyed it but definitely not enough to pay close to $20 for it again.

Delicious! - Edit
The staff was so friendly and welcoming! Our server helped me find gluten free choices, and brought out an appetizer for us to try on the house! We tried lots of different dishes, each one plated beautifully.

Amazing! - Edit
I love vegan sushi, and this place was like something out of my dreams! Every single roll was delicious, as were the 1000 layer potatoes and gyoza. The chocolate brownie was amazing, and the ice cream was good (though it a distinct coconut flavor). It is price, but offers happy hour and other specials. Would 100% recommend for vegans and non-vegans!

flavor - Edit
I ordered for delivery. The food was very good. I was a bit disappointed as I ordered the Thai lettuce wraps and only received the filling - no lettuce, sauce or toppings usually included? Some foods I wanted to order were no longer available as well. I would definitely try here again though.

Always impressive food! - Edit
I’ve been for dinner multiple times and just recently visited for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the change in atmosphere! At dinner, the restaurant is dark and very loud—I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to have a conversation with my lunchmate, but the place was light and bright and good for convo. We ordered a sampling of many things and my fav was the spicy tuna roll with watermelon that has been pounded, dehydrated, and rehydrated. Also had the bang bang broccoli (because how can you not?), dragon roll, and Caesar salad (huge). Fantastic! I highly recommend a lunch visit.

Ambiance, presentation and well curated music definitely hit the right notes. Customer service a plus in this fully plant based eclectic taste and texture of a restaurant.

The over reliance of salt particularly with the pad Thai noodles unfortunately knocks off the many fine qualities otherwise.
Pros: Ambiance , Music, Flavour (infusions)
Cons: Salty (some food not all), Communication across space between staff

The food is exceptional. - Edit
The chef outdid themselves. The food was excellent I enjoyed unagi eggplant nigiri, ahi watermelon nigiri, Thai lettuce wraps and truffle fried rice. The fried rice I had to eat the next day. So much food. I got a brownie but no ice cream and it was really dry. I got stuck trying to get a cab and London was so kind and helped, Even though it was really busy really great staff. You will love it! Book early online. It is hard to get a table.

Best Vegan Restaurant - Edit
This is an amazing experience: wonderful setting, delicious and impeccably plated food, and even a good selection of wine, cocktails, and zero-proof cocktails. I got to try this ahi-tuna made with watermelon substitute. I admit that I wasn’t expecting it to work but it does, not that it tastes like tuna but it is delicious in its own right. The kelp based “caviar” on the 1000 layer potatoes on the other hand were almost exactly like caviar in flavor and texture. The beet and avocado salad served with taro as a tartare stand in was phenomenal as well. The scallion egg wrap was nailed too as I would have expected from Mung bean based egg substitute (think Just Egg). Hands down the best vegan food I’ve had in a restaurant.

Fancy - Edit
I took my order home so I'm sure the experience would have been much more different in person. The food was okay, I thought the noodles were a little salty for my taste.

Great food! - Edit
Went with 5 non-vegan friends and everyone LOVED the food. The waitress, whose name I forget, nailed the recommendations. W e had a broccoli app (great) some potato app (that looked like sushi - also great), Dan Dan noodles (tasty), etc. everyone said it was the best food we had during our few days in DC.

I ate there alone and the staff was so kind. Gave me good recommendations on their own favorite dishes. It was really delicious food, and the bar was cool as well. The portion sizes were not that big compared to the price, but the food was really good!

Good food and drink, young atmosphere - Edit
We got several of the dishes including crispy mushroom hand roll, tempura broccoli sushi (dragon roll), Caesar salad, green curry, all were very well-made and delicious.
Read moreWhilethey say all the dishes are meant for sharing it is definitely pricey if you get multiple dishes, our final bill was $168 for two before tip,
We did get a couple of drinks each , the Plum vodka drink was delicious and not too sweet.
Service was friendly but a little detached. I can't quite put my finger on why I would not want to come back while it was enjoyable and delicious. I guess just a vibe, almost like a chain restaurant. Kind of loud and not intimate.
But no complaints about the food or drink, food was fresh and very well prepared and tasty. Maybe we would come back for lunch, just not my kind of bar scene.

I loved the Dan Dan noodles I ordered. My sister ordered the all you can eat sushi special and most of the options were delicious. Service and atmosphere was impeccable as you would expect at this price point. I will definitely go again.

A Must - Edit
So many fantastic plates. The plant power lunch (monday -friday 11:30-4 pm) was a great value as you choose a starter and signature dish from menu, plus you get a matcha choc chip cookie to top it off. 3 of us shared our selections and the favs were spicey tuna roll, bang bang broccoli, udon and dan dan noodles. Had leftovers to take home too. The dishes were delicious and we enjoyed no crowds or wait at 1:30. An exceptional meal and experience. They also have specials other days of the week and have attached a pic of the sign of those specials as of September 2023.

Expensive but really good - Edit
This restaurant is so beautifully decorated! Just by entering you can already see that it is a fancy place. The menu is not so varied but still many interesting options to choose from. I had the Udon Noodles and it was amazing! Everything about it was really tasty, and the combination of different flavors was perfect. It is one of the most expensive dishes that they have, but honestly worth it. I tried a bit of the other dishes that my friends ordered and the Udon Noodles was my favorite by far. The sauce was sooo good, I'm still not over it! For dessert, I had the bubble waffle and it was also great. Beautiful presentation, but a bit difficult to eat in the glass cup, or at least I couldn't figure it out properly. I am not such a big fan of ice cream but I loved the one that was a part of this dessert! It was very sweet and matched perfectly with the waffle itself. There were many other interesting elements and it all came together nicely, when I somehow managed to eat it. Overall, this was a high-end experience, and I would definitely recommend it!

pricey and trendy fusion - Edit
Decor is cool, and some dishes were really good. I have higher standards for sushi being from CA and didn’t like the sushi overall. It looked pretty but fell apart while being eaten.
Read moreThe restaurant decor was better than the food. The Chinese style dishes were good but too spendy. There was truffle in everything to make it seem fancy and it was overdone.
The service was pretty friendly and they let us stay past closing. The Hong Kong waffle dessert was the best thing I had. Second best was lettuce cups. Overall I think some things were good but there’s room for improvement.

Not up to the standard that other Plantas set - Edit
Since the restaurant is vegan, Happy Cow won't let me give it one star. If I could I would.
Read moreWent for dinner recently -- (1) how does a vegan Asian themed restaurant run out of vegan sushi? (2) backup choice 1,000 LAYER CRISPY POTATOES -- out of that, too (3) three desserts delivered serially 15 minutes apart.

I've been to five other Planta family restaurants and have generally had great experiences. This one was by far the worst.
Pros: Bang bang broccoli
Cons: Worst service of any Planta family restaurant

Excellent, but room for improvement - Edit
PLANTA Queen was absolutely phenomenal. We did the Maki Monday special which was super fun. Some dishes were better than others--with a few standouts like the Dragon Roll and Torched & Pressed. I'd say the palm heart crab cake was a miss, and the spicy tuna roll was not very interesting. Otherwise everything was awesome.
Read moreIt was odd that the second time we got the Dragon Roll, it was different? Also, while all of the initial rolls came out very quickly (and snaps to our waiter Leo who had us order multiple rolls at once rather than making us wait), the last roll took like 40 minutes to come out. Leo comped us a Bangin Broccoli for that, but it was odd. The ambiance and vibe are absolutely lit at PLANTA. I'd def recommend this place to everybody and anybody.
Pros: High end food & environment, Delicious creations
Cons: Some dishes still require refining, Service was friendly and attentive but often slow
