Is it really Junk food? - Edit
Nestled within the Chiado district, Plant Base presents a concealed entrance that may easily be overlooked, as I initially did. However, upon entering, a remarkable transformation occurs. The interior is spacious and features two distinct dining areas: one situated near the entrance and the other situated around the corner, adjacent to the bar.
Read moreWhile the description of Plant Base suggests that it serves “junk food,” I strongly disagree. The culinary offerings here are exceptional. I have visited Plant Base twice within a week, and each time, I have been pleasantly surprised.
On my first visit, I indulged in The Special Burger, a delectable creation featuring a Beyond Burger patty, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, fried onions, tomatoes, cucumber pickles, and sriracha mayonnaise, all nestled on a red onion bun.
On my second visit, I opted for the JHOL MOMO, a culinary masterpiece consisting of steamed Himalayan Momos immersed in a delectable tomato curry, complemented by red onions and cilantro.
In my opinion, I have discovered my favorite Plant Base dish. The JHOL MOMO boasts a harmonious blend of flavors, with a touch of heat that resonated with my preferences. Its deep, rich taste left me thoroughly satisfied.

Momo’s in their slightly spicy tomato sauce were my choice and definitely will be ordering again! It can get busy so arrive early. A little noisy, though of course they are a bar too.

Read moreWe kicked things off with the onion rings, which have to be the best I’ve ever had. They were perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of seasoning. These alone are worth the visit.
Next, we indulged in the macaroni and cheese, which was nothing short of exceptional. Creamy, rich, and with that comforting, nostalgic taste, it was hard to believe it was entirely plant-based.
For our entrées, we chose the seitan tacos and the fish and chips. The seitan tacos were a delight, with a fantastic texture and bold, well-balanced flavors. Every bite was a perfect mix of savory goodness and satisfying crunch.
The fish and chips were another winner. The "fish" had a crispy exterior that paired perfectly with the chips. I'm not entirely sure what the fish substitute was made from—possibly tofu—but it was remarkably convincing and delicious. If anyone knows for sure, I’d love to hear!
Overall, the food at Plant Base is fresh, flavorful, and far from the processed fare you might expect from plant-based cuisine. This place is a true gem, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their menu.

It is a full vegan restaurant, with mostly fast food on the menu. We tried the onion rings and pizzas. They are quite tasty and the portions are sufficient. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is more for a lunch than a dinner, in my opinion. If you have cravings for burger, pizza, tacos this could be the place to go.

Was super excited to try this place but wasn’t what I was expecting. The atmosphere is meh. This is definately more of a lunch spot than for dinner I think. The sever seemed a bit absent and uninterested. We tried the seitan tacos which were nice but literally only had seitan strips inside. Said it was spicy but not spicy at all! Loaded nachos were a bit bare. Definately think adding something like beyond meat on top would make it nicer. Bathrooms were dirty and smelt bad even though a diffuser inside. I wouldn’t come back here unfortunately

The tacos. Were. Amazing! This may be slightly influenced by the fact that we haven't had decent tacos during our travels, but I legitimately think these are some of the best flavored tacos I have had at a restaurant! The chorizo tacos had a ton of flavor, as did the seitan tacos. They both served a very generous portion of protein to shell ratio, with a squeeze of lime and some pico. Could they have used more veggies? Maybe. But the amount of protein was more than sufficient to fill us up after a long day of bus travel. And again, the seasoning and flavor was excellent!
Read moreDespite the seitan tacos being labeled as spicy, and I was verbally warned by the server that the chorizo tacos were spicy when they weren't labeled as such, I found them both quite mild. They had spices, certainly, but were not *spicy* spicy. Maybe they watered it down because my partner and I are so pasty white 🤷♀️
Oh, the garlic bread was excellent, and the sangria was very tasty with a nice pour ☺️

Chorizo and Chipotle (13€)
- very good but missed the bang. The staff asked me before how spicy and I chickened out so I'd recommend ordering it more spicy 🌶️ to have a better experience. Still great combo
The Pizza seemed small but was more filling than expected so all fine. Only thing to improve was that it was so hot 🥵 in there and the AC didn't seem to work.

I really like it here and have been back a couple of times. There are so many options to choose from. The food is all really decent. I wasn’t so much a fan of the pizza, the tacos were incredible, the momos and mac n cheese were also pretty nice. The prices are fair. I recommend stopping by this place!
