They say get the cheese platter …

The best we have ever had! My husband is a vegan and I am not. I enjoyed the cheese platter more than real cheese.

Nighty special of Shishido peppers on warm cashew cream cheese .. wow!

Save room for dessert !!

Pros: Cheese platter, Mocktails, Curry

And cheese platter

We really enjoyed our experience today. We arrived about 10 minutes before open, and there was a line at the door about 15 deep. Heads up, there is no shade at the entrance so plan accordingly on these summer afternoons. We did not have a reservation, so we had to sit outside on the patio. It was shaded and there were fans, but air conditioning would have been much better. (Make reservations!!!!)
Wonderful cheese board, and a blondie for dessert. Service was pleasant, and proficient.

The best vegan dining experience

There is really so much I could write here. From the appetizers exceeding expectations, to the entrees tasting beyond what I thought was delicious and the desserts being not only delicious but beautifully designed, Plant has it all.
Go check out Youtube and see the videos of the owner and how he runs the business from choosing local farms for the vegetables and choosing to place the kitchen in full view of the dining room so cooks can get immediate feedback seeing diners enjoying our meals.
This was the best meal I have had in decades, and my only complaint is no complaint at all: I don't live anywhere near Asheville, NC (Chicago) so I don't know when I'll be able to come back again!
Reservations are highly encouraged because Plant started in 2011 and they are well known in the area.
Food, service, ambiance, vegetable-forward philosophy, cozy tables, all are amazing.
Counting the days until I can return again...

Pros: Food, Service, Vegan principles

Cons: Too far from Chicago! ;)

Fancy and scrumptious dining experience

This place is the epitome of slow food done right. Everything is made in house, it’s healthy, it’s local, and they are committed to making vegan dining enjoyable. The cheese plate is an adventure. Don’t miss Plant if you’re in Asheville!

Incredible Vegan Food!

We wanted to try this restaurant because of all of the amazing things we had heard and, of course, their menu and pictures of their food left us eager to dine.
We were not disappointed! The place was warm and cozy, the staff friendly and the food was incredible!! From presentation to taste this was a fantastic dining experience!!
I cannot recommend Plant enough and I know we’ll be dining there often!

Pros: Delicious Food, Cozy Atmosphere

Cons: Somewhat expensive

Stunning

Had a variety of dishes that ranged from just yum, to mind blowingly good. They have a mushroom ravioli right now that I will dream of for the rest of my life. Don’t skip the ice cream at the end of your meal, the texture and flavor were absolutely perfect.

They were also really great about multiple food allergies.

Will definitely go back. Wish I could give extra stars.

Pros: Really tasty food., Really good service., Allergy awareness.

Cons: Can be pricey.

Boring

Pretentious food, but only one thing I could eat because of wheat and cashew allergies. They should work on making more basic food, or at least have a menu of sides. I don't see how this was any better than eating at a non vegan restaurant. The one thing that I could eat was just bland.

Amazing food, cozy restaurant

Prior to my visit to neighboring Black Mountain to visit friends, I had wanted to visit Plant for several years. Finally, we made plans for my October visit in the Spring of this year, and then Helene visited! Plant was closed after the hurricane and, though I was disappointed knowing I would not get there, I flew in to visit my friends. Then, Plant announced its re-opening on the evening before I was to leave. Of course, my friend called immediately for a reservation. The restaurant lived up to all I had heard about it and then more. It was cozy and very welcoming. We started with the Cheese plate and ordered the Crispy Potatoes to share with our meal. Main courses for us were the Flatbread & Spread, Ravoli, and Picatta, and we shared cheesecake for dessert. It was all absolutely delicious! Our server was delightful and very accommodating, and we had a table where we could see the energetic work in the kitchen. All of it well worth my long wait to visit!

Deserves the high ratings!

Fancy and expensive, but very worth it! I wouldn't come here all the time, but I also wouldn't visit AVL without coming at least once!

Amazing and unique flavors, good quantity (and quality) for the price.

Cons: Price

Best Meal Ever!

Let me preface this by saying that we came here two nights ago. It was so good that I made another reservation for tonight before we even left so I could try a few more menu items. The other night, we ordered everything we wanted: Cauliflower, Brussels, Cheese Plate, Ravioli, and Seitan along with a couple of cocktails for the appetizers and a half-price bottle of wine (because why not?). It was all incredible, but the Ravioli was my favorite! And the cheese-stuffed olives in the Savory Martini were incredible.

the perfect anniversary dinner with delicious dishes

Service: 5/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: ?/5
Vegan Options: 5/5

Overall: The perfect anniversary dinner with delicious dishes. The cheese plate is a must try. And i recommend ordering a bunch of stuff and sharing with rest of table.

Longer version:
Service- we made a reservation at 9 on the patio and were sat at 9. Our waitress, Kendall, was fantastic and asked if we wanted our food staged into multiple courses which we ended up doing. We received updates throughout the night and my water was never empty which is one of my biggest things i rate on service because i drink a lot of water. Kendall was also very knowledgeable about the menu and helped answer questions, and made recommendations since my wife can't handle a ton of spicy food. We were able to get the tofu curry with the spicy sauce on the side so we both could enjoy it.

Quality- nearly everything we tried was delicious. We ordered the cheese plate and ravioli as the first and second course and both of these are a phenomenal blend of flavors. The cheese plate is a must try and i would recommend the ravioli as well. For our main meal we ordered the curry and seitan marsala. Both of these dishes were delicious and continued to have a perfect fusion of flavors. We finished the night with creme brulee and the brownie sundae. The brownie sundae was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The creme brulee wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite the same level of the rest of our food. The caemelization stuck to the bananas which fell off when we cut into it so the first few bites we didn't realize where the carmelization was, and after we found it we wish there was a bit more. Still pretty good and we're glad to have tried it, just not absolutely delicious like everything else on the menu. Otherwise my only complaint is that the curry only had one piece of okra, like the restaurant was trying to start a divorce! Ultimately I conceded the most coveted vegetable to my wife.

Value- we were here for our anniversary and knew in advance that it was expensive so value was not part of my review criteria (unrated).

Vegan Options - everything was vegan which is the only way i rate 5/5 here 🤘

Hell yeah

I enjoy treating myself to a lavish meal when I'm traveling alone, and this time it was at Plant. Even though I'm from North Carolina, I've never been, but I've heard a lot about it. And it was awesome. I'm so full. I love going to places that are a hundred percent vegan, and they've been doing their food for a while so they have it dialed in. I tried the cheese plate, actually crispy potatoes, crispy mushroom mole, and matcha creme brulee (shut up, I know.) definitely worth it for a nice treat. AJ was a great server and they were able to make the cheese plate a half portion for me so I could try it. 🥹

Pros: Choices, Atmosphere , Good food

Cons: Kinda small, Difficult to park

Exceptional Vegan Dining: A Must-Try Experience

The crispy potatoes were outstanding—perfectly cooked and crunchy, with a seasoning that hit the mark. The salsa verde, reminiscent of chimichurri, added a fantastic flavor.

Despite not being a fan of mushrooms, I found the ravioli delightful. The cheese on the Gem & carrot salad was exceptional, and the salad itself was fresh and well-dressed.

The crispy mushroom mole was rich in flavor and offered a wonderful variety of textures. The curry was equally flavorful, delicious, and creamy.

The matcha creme brulee had a flan-like consistency and wasn't overly sweet, though the matcha flavor was subtle. The chocolate whip on the brownie sundae was incredibly light and fluffy, with a strong chocolate taste, although it leaned towards the sweeter side.

Overall, this is a top-notch vegan dining experience and a must-try for anyone in the area. Reservations are recommended as the place can get quite busy.

Best Restaurant in the United States

Plant. I do not know what else I can add about this restaurant that has not been exemplified. I have traveled all across this vast country tasting the delicacies of vegan food, and this is the best vegan restaurant I have had the pleasure to attend in the United States. This is the restaurant that "Plant-based" is named after.

If you have any inclination of visiting North Carolina or Tennessee, and you eat a plant-based diet (or just want an amazing dining experience), make the pilgrimage to Plant. There is no real reason why this restaurant does not have Michelin stars.

The interior is tight and a little spartan. It is not the type of restaurant with a dress code. But the food is, honestly, the best food I have had in the country. Just look at those pictures on HappyCow. Seriously. I would make a flight to Ashville just to visit Plant again. Ashville is an awesome city; make a vacation to check out the hip-young city and tell others that you have been able to experience the best vegan restaurant in the United States.

Exceptional experience

Everything about the experience was perfect - nice ambiance, great service, good wine list, and most importantly - amazing food. My boyfriend and I split the cheese plate, carrot salad, ravioli, seitan Marsala, and peanut butter cheesecake. It was the perfect amount of food and a great way to try lots of dishes. Everything was wonderful, but the seitan Marsala was one of my all time favorite meals!!

Best in the entire Southeast

If a road trip comes within 100 miles of Asheville, I will stop and Plant will be the highlight of the journey. I've found no comparison in Atlanta, Charleston, Savannah, or all of Tennessee. Truly gourmet food that dances on your palate with half a dozen flavors from start to end. It's heavy, bold, textured, and innovative with an inviting, subdued atmosphere that makes the most of the small interior. The menu changes infrequently, which is ideal for my yearly visits, though I do really miss the seitan (not tempeh) con queso. If a trip is two days, I'll often reserve both nights and eat most everything on the menu. They also boast air purification and turnover and happily accommodate COVID conscious diners.

Pros: hefty, filling portions, bold, innovative dishes, inviting, cozy atmosphere

Cons: seitan con queso is gone, infrequent menu turnover

The best vegan restaurant in the country...

We've traveled across the country and Plant is the best (despite some major competition in New York, LA, and Phoenix). We just ate at plant after driving here from Atlanta. And we get two more dinners at Plant tomorrow and Sunday nights before we head home, happy to have made Plant the center piece to our weekend mini-vacation. Could not recommend Plant more!

Note: Plant is small and popular. Make your reservation well in advance.

Note 2: The cheese plate is a must-have!

Phenomenal cuisine

I liked everything about Plant. I love that the menu is small and you can tell the chef puts a lot of hard work into making sure each dish is wonderful. The food is outstanding, best advice is to get a bunch of different things and share them with the table so you can try it all. You must make a reservation.

One of my favorite restaurants!

Everything is phenomenal here! I love the beets, cheese plate, ravioli, the mole, I mean I could go on and on! The desserts are also fantastic! Try the peanut butter cheesecake if it’s on the menu that night! They also have a great wine and cocktail menu.😄
