Very, very, very overpriced and zero customer service

We tried a table full of food, some was awesome, so meh. The service was awful, we were on the back patio and mostly forgotten about. For the money, which we were splurging on, it wasn't what I would expect. Not going back.

Pros: Cheese plate was great, drinks were good

Cons: service was unfriendly across the board, patio was not great, water running on ground, very pricey

I would sell my first born child for one plate of this ravioli

It was incredible. The filling was delicate and flavorful, everything perfectly composed and delicious.

Worth a visit!

Everything my husband and I had to eat at Plant was delicious! We started with the cheese board, followed by the crispy potatoes, tostadas, ravioli, and we shared the mole dish. We finished it with some strawberry basil ice cream. Yes, it was a lot of food, but with an endurance runner husband (and me a major foodie), it was super easy to polish off!😊 You could definitely get a few small plates to share and have a wonderful meal here. Kind staff as well. Very busy, so definitely make reservations.

Good experience that ended badly

I went to plant with my partner to take away some desserts : I had the tiramisu which was the best vegan tiramisu I’ve ever had. It’s a big portion and it’s really creamy and dense in a good way.

We had a reservation for the next day : we ordered the cheese platter which I think was my favorite plate from everything I tasted at plant. The cheeses were really good but it was the balance of flavors and textures that made it to the top for me : crunchy, soft, sweet, savory etc. We tried the potato plate and the raviolis. There were both a delight. We liked it so much we decided to come back the next day.

I took the fried cauliflower and the tofu piccata. Both were good but they didn’t go well together texture wise and I wasn’t blown away by the tofu piccata : the tofu wasn’t as crunchy as it should have been to go with the purée and the sauce wasn’t strong. My partner took the vegetable lasagne with the potatoes and it was a much better choice. The lasagna was incredible and really fresh so it went extraordinary well with the salty and fried potatoes.

As we paid the bill and were on our way to go we finally decided to take two tiramisus to go. When we got home we checked the bill because it seemed really high and indeed they had make us pay the tiramisus 4$ more than the right price and they added the 5% service fee even though it was to go and we already paid it earlier. When we took the tiramisu to go the first time they didn’t make us pay all of that. So for two tiramisus it almost rounded to 40$ which is absolutely insane considering the prices are already really high. We were in town just for a few days and they were closed the next days, we sent them a message but never heard back from them. It has left us a bitter taste. Also the top of the second tiramisus left a bubbly taste in our mouth, like it was a bit fermented. Weird experience.

Pros: Cheese platter, Tiramisu (the first time) , Lasagna + potatoes

Cons: Really pricey , Makes mistakes (or not?) when making you pay bill

Upscale vegan

I always enjoy coming here yearly when I’m in town. This time I started with a small broccolini dish. Then an appetizer plate of lion steak tostadas. Main meal was the tofu piccata. Dessert was the chocolate ice cream w/cookie and a decaf French press. Fully enjoyable. Rich. My only complaint is that salt is overused. When each component of the meal is salted, it ends up being too much and makes it hard to taste the separate components. I wish they’d prep all dishes without salt and let diners salt at the table.

Pros: Artfully prepared , Many components , Great service

Cons: Too much salt is used, Too much oil in the food

Amazing!

We had a cheese platter, cauliflower, crispy mushroom mole and tiramisu. Oh, so good! It’s a short hike from the city center but it’s worth the visit.

Fancy!

MUST have the ravioli small dish!!! The cauliflour/potato mash also yummy. Tiramisu and blondie w ice cream were delish and each big enough to share. Fancy prices, elevated service, great for a special dinner out. Definitely advise you make a reservation. Folks were being turned away.

Just wish they’d do a few dishes without oil.

Their food is delicious, but on a WFPB diet with no oil. Why can’t they sauté in veggie broth instead of oil on request?!?! Otherwise perfect.

As good as everyone says

Having been a vegan foodie for 30 years, as well as a traveler, I can easily put this restaurant at the top tier of restaurants for vegans.

You can see the skill, talent, and joy while watching the chefs. It is amazing to watch. The owners know the recipe for beauty in dining.

In my trip to Asheville, I ate here twice, and loved everything I tasted.

All star recommendation.

Beyond Words . . .

I took the advice of other reviewers (so many!) before me and tried this establishment. It was not a mistake. It was an initiation into delectable bliss❤️.

I asked my server, AJ, for her advice on a good biodynamic wine, and she suggested the Pinot Noir. It was excellent!

For food I had the incredible ACTUALLY CRISPY POTATOESl and the MASALA UTTAPAM, both were divine!

But I must return one day and try more of the myriad victuals that this establishment provides!

Get here

We had a reservation (our only one of the trip) on a Thursday evening. It was packed, so I’m glad we had it. Food was so great. Service was super. Just go. Look at the pics. They speak better than anything I could write.

A must-visit in Asheville — worth the drive! 🌿

Plant is an absolute must if you’re in Asheville. I’d honestly drive all the way from Georgia just to have dinner here and we actually do sometimes! They used to serve a smoky mushroom steak that was incredible (please bring it back!), but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Every dish is beautifully crafted and full of flavor. Be sure to make a reservation! It’s always packed, and for good reason!

One of the best meals of my life!

The whole experience of this restaurant was amazing, from the food to the service to the ambiance. Loved the ravioli, cheese board, mole, and both desserts: matcha creams brule and blondie!

A must-visit!!

This place has very high reviews and this is true. Highly recommend getting a reservation as it can be packed & get busy. Wait staff is phenomenal, so kind, someone in our party has an allergy and the kitchen staff individually reviewed the whole menu & gave us a paper menu circled what they could order.

The food is divine and everyone who sats to order the Cheese Board is 100% correct. Vegans, you are not prepared for such a perfect experience. The crispy potatoes were also good but a bit too greasy for my personal taste. Everything is *very* filling. A small plate cheese board was almost too much food between two people.

Pros: Delicious options all around, Phenomenal staff & kitchen, Very well priced & filling

Such a pleasure!

Ahh this place is delicious and full of the kindest people, both staff and patrons! I was lucky to get a solo spot at the counter. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful but busy at the same time. I had the piccata and cheesecake and both were phenomenal. Can’t wait to road trip through here again as a special treat.

And cheese platter

We really enjoyed our experience today. We arrived about 10 minutes before open, and there was a line at the door about 15 deep. Heads up, there is no shade at the entrance so plan accordingly on these summer afternoons. We did not have a reservation, so we had to sit outside on the patio. It was shaded and there were fans, but air conditioning would have been much better. (Make reservations!!!!)
Wonderful cheese board, and a blondie for dessert. Service was pleasant, and proficient.

The best vegan dining experience

There is really so much I could write here. From the appetizers exceeding expectations, to the entrees tasting beyond what I thought was delicious and the desserts being not only delicious but beautifully designed, Plant has it all.
Go check out Youtube and see the videos of the owner and how he runs the business from choosing local farms for the vegetables and choosing to place the kitchen in full view of the dining room so cooks can get immediate feedback seeing diners enjoying our meals.
This was the best meal I have had in decades, and my only complaint is no complaint at all: I don't live anywhere near Asheville, NC (Chicago) so I don't know when I'll be able to come back again!
Reservations are highly encouraged because Plant started in 2011 and they are well known in the area.
Food, service, ambiance, vegetable-forward philosophy, cozy tables, all are amazing.
Counting the days until I can return again...

Pros: Food, Service, Vegan principles

Cons: Too far from Chicago! ;)

Fancy and scrumptious dining experience

This place is the epitome of slow food done right. Everything is made in house, it’s healthy, it’s local, and they are committed to making vegan dining enjoyable. The cheese plate is an adventure. Don’t miss Plant if you’re in Asheville!
