A must-visit!! - Edit
This place has very high reviews and this is true. Highly recommend getting a reservation as it can be packed & get busy. Wait staff is phenomenal, so kind, someone in our party has an allergy and the kitchen staff individually reviewed the whole menu & gave us a paper menu circled what they could order.
Read moreThe food is divine and everyone who sats to order the Cheese Board is 100% correct. Vegans, you are not prepared for such a perfect experience. The crispy potatoes were also good but a bit too greasy for my personal taste. Everything is *very* filling. A small plate cheese board was almost too much food between two people.
Pros: Delicious options all around, Phenomenal staff & kitchen, Very well priced & filling

Nice atmosphere and people. Outside of the restaurant and inside feels so different. Food is good I would like to try more than what I did order but my stomach is satisfied full for the birthday dinner.

Such a pleasure! - Edit
Ahh this place is delicious and full of the kindest people, both staff and patrons! I was lucky to get a solo spot at the counter. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful but busy at the same time. I had the piccata and cheesecake and both were phenomenal. Can’t wait to road trip through here again as a special treat.

And cheese platter - Edit
We really enjoyed our experience today. We arrived about 10 minutes before open, and there was a line at the door about 15 deep. Heads up, there is no shade at the entrance so plan accordingly on these summer afternoons. We did not have a reservation, so we had to sit outside on the patio. It was shaded and there were fans, but air conditioning would have been much better. (Make reservations!!!!)

The best vegan dining experience - Edit
There is really so much I could write here. From the appetizers exceeding expectations, to the entrees tasting beyond what I thought was delicious and the desserts being not only delicious but beautifully designed, Plant has it all.
Read moreGo check out Youtube and see the videos of the owner and how he runs the business from choosing local farms for the vegetables and choosing to place the kitchen in full view of the dining room so cooks can get immediate feedback seeing diners enjoying our meals.
This was the best meal I have had in decades, and my only complaint is no complaint at all: I don't live anywhere near Asheville, NC (Chicago) so I don't know when I'll be able to come back again!
Reservations are highly encouraged because Plant started in 2011 and they are well known in the area.
Food, service, ambiance, vegetable-forward philosophy, cozy tables, all are amazing.
Counting the days until I can return again...

This place is the epitome of slow food done right. Everything is made in house, it’s healthy, it’s local, and they are committed to making vegan dining enjoyable. The cheese plate is an adventure. Don’t miss Plant if you’re in Asheville!

Boring - Edit
Pretentious food, but only one thing I could eat because of wheat and cashew allergies. They should work on making more basic food, or at least have a menu of sides. I don't see how this was any better than eating at a non vegan restaurant. The one thing that I could eat was just bland.

Amazing food, cozy restaurant - Edit
Prior to my visit to neighboring Black Mountain to visit friends, I had wanted to visit Plant for several years. Finally, we made plans for my October visit in the Spring of this year, and then Helene visited! Plant was closed after the hurricane and, though I was disappointed knowing I would not get there, I flew in to visit my friends. Then, Plant announced its re-opening on the evening before I was to leave. Of course, my friend called immediately for a reservation. The restaurant lived up to all I had heard about it and then more. It was cozy and very welcoming. We started with the Cheese plate and ordered the Crispy Potatoes to share with our meal. Main courses for us were the Flatbread & Spread, Ravoli, and Picatta, and we shared cheesecake for dessert. It was all absolutely delicious! Our server was delightful and very accommodating, and we had a table where we could see the energetic work in the kitchen. All of it well worth my long wait to visit!

Best Meal Ever! - Edit
Let me preface this by saying that we came here two nights ago. It was so good that I made another reservation for tonight before we even left so I could try a few more menu items. The other night, we ordered everything we wanted: Cauliflower, Brussels, Cheese Plate, Ravioli, and Seitan along with a couple of cocktails for the appetizers and a half-price bottle of wine (because why not?). It was all incredible, but the Ravioli was my favorite! And the cheese-stuffed olives in the Savory Martini were incredible.

the perfect anniversary dinner with delicious dishes - Edit
Service: 5/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: ?/5

Overall: The perfect anniversary dinner with delicious dishes. The cheese plate is a must try. And i recommend ordering a bunch of stuff and sharing with rest of table.
Longer version:
Service- we made a reservation at 9 on the patio and were sat at 9. Our waitress, Kendall, was fantastic and asked if we wanted our food staged into multiple courses which we ended up doing. We received updates throughout the night and my water was never empty which is one of my biggest things i rate on service because i drink a lot of water. Kendall was also very knowledgeable about the menu and helped answer questions, and made recommendations since my wife can't handle a ton of spicy food. We were able to get the tofu curry with the spicy sauce on the side so we both could enjoy it.
Quality- nearly everything we tried was delicious. We ordered the cheese plate and ravioli as the first and second course and both of these are a phenomenal blend of flavors. The cheese plate is a must try and i would recommend the ravioli as well. For our main meal we ordered the curry and seitan marsala. Both of these dishes were delicious and continued to have a perfect fusion of flavors. We finished the night with creme brulee and the brownie sundae. The brownie sundae was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The creme brulee wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite the same level of the rest of our food. The caemelization stuck to the bananas which fell off when we cut into it so the first few bites we didn't realize where the carmelization was, and after we found it we wish there was a bit more. Still pretty good and we're glad to have tried it, just not absolutely delicious like everything else on the menu. Otherwise my only complaint is that the curry only had one piece of okra, like the restaurant was trying to start a divorce! Ultimately I conceded the most coveted vegetable to my wife.
Value- we were here for our anniversary and knew in advance that it was expensive so value was not part of my review criteria (unrated).
Vegan Options - everything was vegan which is the only way i rate 5/5 here 🤘

Hell yeah - Edit
I enjoy treating myself to a lavish meal when I'm traveling alone, and this time it was at Plant. Even though I'm from North Carolina, I've never been, but I've heard a lot about it. And it was awesome. I'm so full. I love going to places that are a hundred percent vegan, and they've been doing their food for a while so they have it dialed in. I tried the cheese plate, actually crispy potatoes, crispy mushroom mole, and matcha creme brulee (shut up, I know.) definitely worth it for a nice treat. AJ was a great server and they were able to make the cheese plate a half portion for me so I could try it. 🥹

Exceptional Vegan Dining: A Must-Try Experience - Edit
The crispy potatoes were outstanding—perfectly cooked and crunchy, with a seasoning that hit the mark. The salsa verde, reminiscent of chimichurri, added a fantastic flavor.
Read moreDespite not being a fan of mushrooms, I found the ravioli delightful. The cheese on the Gem & carrot salad was exceptional, and the salad itself was fresh and well-dressed.
The crispy mushroom mole was rich in flavor and offered a wonderful variety of textures. The curry was equally flavorful, delicious, and creamy.
The matcha creme brulee had a flan-like consistency and wasn't overly sweet, though the matcha flavor was subtle. The chocolate whip on the brownie sundae was incredibly light and fluffy, with a strong chocolate taste, although it leaned towards the sweeter side.
Overall, this is a top-notch vegan dining experience and a must-try for anyone in the area. Reservations are recommended as the place can get quite busy.

Best Restaurant in the United States - Edit
Plant. I do not know what else I can add about this restaurant that has not been exemplified. I have traveled all across this vast country tasting the delicacies of vegan food, and this is the best vegan restaurant I have had the pleasure to attend in the United States. This is the restaurant that "Plant-based" is named after.
Read moreIf you have any inclination of visiting North Carolina or Tennessee, and you eat a plant-based diet (or just want an amazing dining experience), make the pilgrimage to Plant. There is no real reason why this restaurant does not have Michelin stars.
The interior is tight and a little spartan. It is not the type of restaurant with a dress code. But the food is, honestly, the best food I have had in the country. Just look at those pictures on HappyCow. Seriously. I would make a flight to Ashville just to visit Plant again. Ashville is an awesome city; make a vacation to check out the hip-young city and tell others that you have been able to experience the best vegan restaurant in the United States.

Exceptional experience - Edit
Everything about the experience was perfect - nice ambiance, great service, good wine list, and most importantly - amazing food. My boyfriend and I split the cheese plate, carrot salad, ravioli, seitan Marsala, and peanut butter cheesecake. It was the perfect amount of food and a great way to try lots of dishes. Everything was wonderful, but the seitan Marsala was one of my all time favorite meals!!
