WOW - Edit
I‘m blown away by the taste of Orteá‘s food. It’s really pricy but totally worth it! Never tasted something similar. From the starters over the main meal to the desert - everything was extraordinarily delicious!

Second restaurant of our Lisbao Trip - Edit

Amazing cakes, I'll be back - Edit
We only tried the cakes (Caramel-Rasperry and White Chocolate-Maracujá), but we definitely will be back for a whole meal. The cakes are beautiful and very high quality. One of the best vegan cakes I've tried. The place is quite gourmet which also reflects in the prices (cake for 4,50€, meals about 15€), but worth every penny.

Excellent vegan restaurant with outside tables - Edit
Greeted by the funny Gianpiero? who directed us to our outside terrace table, we ordered both sandwiches to share. Afterwards had cake & pea cappuccino. Check out the vegan cake display. The kind of place you can take Mum & Dad and Grandma & Grandpa and/or a hot vegan date. 🌱

Fantastic food, unique menu, all vegan and mostly GF - Edit
As a gluten free vegan, it can be hard to find items that meet both requirements in Lisbon. This spot is almost all GF and the food is EXCELLENT! I ordered starters rather than a main meal: the soup of the day (creamy cauliflower mushroom) and the “bread basket”, a (large!) spread of three different kinds of GF house-made breads plus three spreads (tofu cream cheese, hummus, and olive oil). The soup as well as every type of bread and every topping were excellent! I think this is the best vegan gluten free bread I’ve ever eaten—especially the fermented focaccia! All are baked on site, and you can tell nothing is compromised in the way of ingredients or flavor. The tofu cream cheese was delicious! My pineapple mint kombucha (also made in-house) was lovely. They even offer a flight of three kombucha flavors if you can’t decide. The menu is extensive, so it was hard to choose what to order! I’ll be back to try a main dish and dessert sometime.

A great new vegan place in Lisbon - Edit
We already loved AO26 and Ortea was a great new discovery. We very much enjoyed the bruschetta, soup and special sandwiches and couldn't resist finishing with the chocolate cake. (Hard to choose one of the many cake varieties!) Staff very friendly and cosy environment

The former Botanista, now Ortea - Edit
Read moreAt this restaurant you are either lucky or unlucky. Sometimes the food tastes fantastic and sometimes it doesn't taste at all.
I usually find the hamburger too dry. The Toscana plate is too sour. The oat risotto, on the other hand, is fantastic.
The service is sometimes a bit overwhelmed when the restaurant is fully occupied and you can sometimes wait a long time to get your meal.
They have a great selection of cakes (be sure to try the Snickers cake)
Recently there is also a small vegan supermarket above the restaurant with great vegan cheese. So it's worth a visit.
All in all, however, it was a nice place to have lunch or dinner.
Pros: All vegan, Try the cakes and the pancakes
Cons: Takes time to get your food, Staff is slow

Did not quite live up to the hype - Edit
We were excited to try this restaurant having had a great experience at AO 26. However, in our opinion, this one was not quite as good
Read moreWe had the soup of the day (cashew and garlic), pad Thai, bread platter and the brunch menu. The soup was great and good value for money. The brunch at €24 was over priced and just ok. It promises a long list of items which arrive sometimes in micro sizes but you can’t help but feel disappointed as you try them all. There are 3 drinks with the brunch menu which arrived all at the same time not sure about how cappuccino and a mimosa work at the same time!
Having booked a table in advance, I was disappointed to be given a table attached to a pillar when there was a better table near by. The person who showed us to our table was not very welcoming - assuming he was the manager. The waitress was fine but no where near the friendliness of their AO26 counterparts.
We didn’t have space for dessert but the portions looked generous and there were plenty of vegan cake options for those with a sweet tooth.
In total our bill was just over £53 for 2 adults and a child. One of the more expensive vegan places we ate at whilst in Lisbon.
Pros: All vegan options
Cons: More expensive that other places, Service could be more friendlier

Exquisite vegan food - Edit
An amazing experience overall. The decoration and the space is very intimate and cozy, even though the room is quite large. The staff is very friendly and the place allows pets inside. The dishes are absolutely beautiful. The cakes look like masterpieces, and most of them (maybe all of them) are also gluten free. Had the chocolate and caramel cake that was absolutely delicious. Soft, creamy and so so good. They also have a cheese board with a few selection of cashew cheeses that go beautifully with a glass wine. Their menu have a lot of options.

Delectable artistry - Edit
O Botanista has skillfully mastered flavor and turned food into science art. Carefully disposed on our plate, we’ve found a combination of flavors that positively expanded our understanding of how far one can go with seemingly ordinary ingredients. This venue has an elegant, chic vibe, good for business casual or intimate occasions. Will be back for more
