Can’t beat the prices

Two vegan options available when I visited - a plain sesame onigiri (white or brown rice) and some sort of spicy miso onigiri. The sesame was pretty plain, but the miso was very tasty! I went back and got more. It is such good value for money too - 3 onigiri cost around 450 yen!

良くも悪くもない

Unfortunately there was no umeonigiri so I went for plain salt and sesame seed ones, which are nice but nothing special.

Pros: Clearly labelled options

Cons: Takeout uses more plastic than what is necessary

Vegan options change regularly

There were two clearly labelled vegan options when I visited - one was a miso style and the other was pickled veggies. It was very yummy!
The menu changes often.
Small amount of seating inside.
Cash only.
One of the only vegan options in Kichijoji Station.

Pros: Good price

Only 2 plain vegan options

The onigiri was nice and the staff friendly, but when I visited they only had 2 vegan options, plain White Rice with a bit of sesame and plain Brown Rice with sesame. They were clearly labelled as vegan. The other vegan options from their website weren't offered and not labelled. The size was very big and they weren't bad, but since they were only the plain versions without any filling, they weren't special.

Be CAREFUL when ordering

The first time I went in, I asked what was vegan and the person at the counter seemed to clearly understand what I could and couldn't eat. I even specified (in both English and Japanese) that I don't eat fish or dashi. She gave me a few different options. I returned later that afternoon for another snack and asked someone else to confirm what was vegan. She checked the allergens menu and told me that I what I ate earlier was NOT vegan and contained dashi.

They do have vegan options here, but if you come I would be sure to ask for the allergen menu. The sesame mustard greens, plum, and miso rice balls are *NOT* vegan, contrary to what other reviews here say. It's possible they've updated their recipes over the past few years.

It seems like the allergen menu may also available on their website: https://www.omusubi-gonbei.com/menu/allergy/

Pros: Has an allergen menu

Cons: Some staff gave incorrect info about vegan options

Nice place for a quick meal

This shop is located super close to the station. Vegan options are the miso, plum and sesame vegetables rice balls. There may be more depending on the season. The croquets are vegetarian as they contain egg.

Pros: Generous portions , Fair number of vegan items

Cons: Very busy during lunch , Very small eat in section
