Hidden gem - Edit
"Ome Farm Kitchen" is one of those restaurants I always ignored. Even though it showed up plenty of times in search results from Happy Cow, I thought it was too small, to far away and too insignificant. Let me tell you how wrong I was...
Read moreWell, "One Farm Kitchen" is indeed small. It has two tables and some seating at the counter. After around 10 customers, the restaurant is crowded. However, it is located on a insignificant street of an insignificant area between Akihabara and Kanda. Therefore, you won't stumble upon this restaurant but really have to make an effort to go there. And even when you're at the correct address, you won't see it because it is tucked away in the hallway of a residential building. But once inside, the atmosphere is cozy, warm and welcoming.
The staff speaks both Japanese and English and will explain the concept. "Ome Farm Kitchen" is in fact owned by a farm, hence the name. The restaurant serves whatever the farm harvests that day. The menu basically contains a Buddha bowl, curry and some smaller items. The exact ingredients in them changes from day to day.
It feels like I was there at an exceptionally good day, because I had one of the best dinners in Tokyo in a very long time. Based on the advice of another customer I tried the cold beet tofu milk soup with the perfect blend of herbs. It proves that the chef is very skilled to make something this tasty with these simple ingredients.
My main course was the curry and it too was divine. The curry (sauce) is more green and vegetable-like than the brown broth served by fast food like curry chains. But the most important thing is: one can clearly taste that the vegetables are day fresh and therefore much better than those served by the average restaurant. Because the portions are a bit on the small side, I had room to try the taco. It looks like a tiny work of art and again shows what high quality day fresh vegetables can do for a meal.
In short: unexpected yet exceptional quality at a hard to find little restaurant. In my opinion "Ome Farm Kitchen" is the #1 hidden gem of Tokyo!

Great spot! Not 100%veggie - Edit
A lovely concept of a small homestead turning their produce into homemade beer and food- although the special on the menu today was horse!…

Great find! - Edit
We went to Ome Farm Kitchen our first night in Tokyo and loved it! Very cozy spot with a few tables and bar seating. They had English menus and service was wonderful. Serving sizes were on the smaller side, so don’t be afraid to try an appetizer as well!

I had the buddha bowl.
Read moreIt was delicious, but not very filling.
Quite expensive for the amount, but since they're using organic ingredients, I kinda understand.

Delicious and Chilled Out. - Edit
Delicious and chilled out small cafe/restaurant just a few minutes walk from the centre of Akihabara.
Read moreHaving wandered for quite a while trying to find a bite for lunch we happened across this on maps. What a wonderful discovery!
Absolutely delicious food and such a chilled and welcoming atmosphere. Not many tables but wasn’t crowded when we were there.
We had a mix of dishes between us; the curry and Buddha bowls were great. All the produce comes from their own farm located in Ome and is organic. They can be vegan but we added an egg as we were hungry!
Lovely. Highly recommended.
Pros: Organic veg
