We had the strawberry chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake (no sugar). The latter tasted fresh and light, so very recommended. The chocolate dough of the other one was a bit dry for our taste, so not the best we've had in Vienna, but the strawberry part was delicious. Indoor cafe only seats around 3 people.

Meine Freundin (flexi) und ich (vegan) waren letzte Woche für vier Tage in Wien. Wir frühstückten zweimal in Oma's Café im Stein. Denn wenn man/frau sich pflanzlich und genussvoll ernähren will, ist dieses Café ideal.
Read moreAn Tag 2 entschieden wir uns für ein Stück Mango-Käse-Kuchen und ein halbes Stück Beeren-Mohn-Torte. Die Zutaten klangen nach Müsli, die Kuchen schmeckten ausgesprochen lecker. Auch der Milchkaffee war ein Genuss.
An Tag 3 frühstückten wir herzhaft: geschmortes Gemüse, Saaten, Hummus, zwei kleine Ecken Käse und einladend duftendes Brot. Natürlich tranken wir Milchkaffee. Alles schmeckte hervorragend.
Trotz des gut besuchten Cafés strahlte der Chef Freundlichkeit und Gelassenheit aus, beantwortete alle Fragen rund ums Café und sein Angebot ohne Hektik und bediente zügig, aber nicht gestresst, so dass sich jede/r wohlfühlen konnte.
Wir empfehlen, das Café selbst zu testen, wenn ihr in Wien seid.

If you are in Vienna and want to eat plant based food with relish, then OMA'S CAFÉ IM STEIN is the right place to be.
My friend (flexi) and I (vegan) spent four days in Vienna last week and had our breakfast twice at OMA'S CAFÉ. The moment we stepped into the café, we felt welcome. The manager/assistant answered all our questions and explained the menu in a very relaxed and friendly way, although we were not the only guests.
On day 1 we decided on one piece of mango-cheese-cake and half a piece of berry-poppy seeds-cake. The ingredients sounded like muesli, but the cakes were extremely delicious. The milk coffee smelled very good and tasted wonderful, too.
On day 3 we had a plate of fried vegetables, hummus, seeds, two small pieces of cheese and invitingly smelling slices of bread. And milk coffee, of course. Everything was very very delicious.

The cakes were really tasty - one of the things we liked best were lemon cake and punch cake. The staff was really nice. It had only one con - there were only two seats, so we choosed take away order.

Köstliche Torten - Edit
Das kleine Café bietet eine Auswahl an wechselnden Torten und Gebäck. Leider gibt es nur wenig Sitzplätze, ein Besuch ist der Laden aber auf jeden Fall wert. Wir kommen bei unserer nächsten Wien-Reise gerne wieder.

Amazing cakes and as Norwegians we found the cakes to be cheap, at least not expensive. We are used to vegan cake to cost around 6 euros per slice in Norway. When I ordered the cappuccino, she asked me if I wanted regular milk or oatmilk, so it seems like the coffee is not always made vegan, but nothing to complain about - just nice to be aware of it. We could also pay with bank card.

So the cakes here are a bit expensive, but they are really good. Since going vegan I missed sometimes having a cake with whipped cream/ lot of cream, but here you have a lot of cakes like these. They are not overly sweet which is also great, as cakes in Vienna tend to be too much for me.
