Best okonomiyaki!

Please please go here if you are in Osaka! If there is a line it is 100% worth the wait you have to believe me. It is the most flavourful food I have ever eaten. You get to choose five veggies to put on it, along with vegan cheese and vegan mayonnaise! It is such a chill vibe inside with many floors to choose where to eat. The owner is so so lovely! She is always so happy and friendly. It is the best food you’ll ever eat, you won’t regret it!!

Favorite restaurant on my Japan trip

Would rate 5/5
I had the vegan okonomiyaki here. You get to choose 5 ingredients from a list to add to it, as well as vegan cheese as an optional topping. The portion size is good and very filling.
The vibe inside the restaurant is fantastic and the chef has great energy. Only downside might be wait time, but we arrived 20 minutes before opening and were first in line

Must try

This place deserves 5/5 stars!!

Worth waiting outside for! (Line moves faster than expected!)
Best Osaka style. Restaurant run by one women. She cares about her food, passionate. Gluten free, vegan, meat options available. Two menu's one vegan one regular. Lots of vegan food. Location is very fun.

Must go to spot and be sure to check out sister location for takoyaki and kushikatsu!(5 min away!)

Pros: Best food!, Staff cares about customer and food, Price

Delicious & filling

The large vegan okonomiyaki is very large. Like 2 people could share and be full.

So delicious & you get to pick vegetables you add to it. They have a really good array of vegan options including the okonomiyaki, gyoza and other sides like tofu / kimchi etc.

The lady speaks English and is nice and plays every has a good vibe.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Filling , fun atmosphere

delicious and strange

the food is just the first reason you should visit OKO! this was one of my favorite experiences we had in Japan - I’ll leave some things as a surprise, but this place is WILD, closer to a punk house basement or a performance art piece than fine dining, and I fully mean that as a compliment. the owner is a mad genius. just go.

be ready for a bit of a line outside, but there’s seating and you can self serve drinks from the DIY bar (!!) while you wait. there’s a separate vegan menu so it’s easy to figure out what you can eat. vegan/nonvegan condiments are clearly marked too. we loved it so much we went to the sibling takoyaki spot nearby and almost made ourselves sick. 10/10.

Great Vibes, Great Okonomyaki

We were pleased to find this when we came to Osaka, because we didn't think we would be able to find vegan okonomyaki. We first accidentally went to the sister restaurant around the corner, which has vegan takoyaki. That place also had cool vibes and the food looked great, but we were specifically looking for okonomyaki. And this place did not disappoint! We definitely had to wait in a long line, but there is a self service station for mixed drinks and beer, and you can have a drink in line on the street 👌🏼

The food itself is delicious! The okonomyaki is made with soy pulp and cabbage, and you can choose five veggies to go with it. It is topped with a BBQ type sauce, and vegan mayo if you want. The medium is a LOT of food, especially if you get sides! Even my hungry husband was hesitant about not getting a large, but was stuffed with the medium and our sides. The gyoza are great, and the "pickles" are four different tasty pickled veggies coarsely cut up. The food is quite oily, however, so if you are oil-free, this is not the place for you. This is not a quick bite to eat, but the vibes of the whole restaurant and the excellent food make it a great experience.

Great food

Good vegan and vegetarian selection of okonomiyaki, and sides such as French fries and gyozas. Portion sizes were humongous too, definitely stick with medium not large if you're getting sides too!

Great vegan okonomiyaki

This place is super popular and run by one woman, so I would recommend getting there at least 10 mins before opening as there’s always a wait. You can choose up to 5 veggies to add to your okonomiyaki and to add vegan cheese. I would recommend asking for extra sauce and they provide vegan mayo too. Well worth a visit!

Delicious, lovely and unique

This place has the perfect vegetarian and vegan set up. Getting to pick your own vegetables, weither it has egg or not, or vegan cheese or dairy cheese, really gives picky eaters and non picky eaters the ease of having a meal that suits them and it was delicious.
The building has a lot of stairs, so if keep that in mind when coming here. But I would highly recommend this place if you get a chance and the rooms were gorgeous and has a very "made buy the people with love" attitude about it, you can tell that its grown from love with love.
There is a bit of a wait, so be warned, but there is warm drinks and peanuts to keep you entertained while you wait.
We also added to the collection of wall art and writing added buy people from all over the world.
And it is truly impressive what Shuho has made and is running entirely by herself and she seemed like such a gorgeous person.

Pros: Freedom to pick based on dietary requirements, Lovely atmosphere and cool overall experience , Delicious food and big sizes (even the medium)

Cons: Wait time (but worth it), Stairs

Good food, a fun concept and an amazing atmosphere.

We had a great time at Oko Okonomiyaki. At first, the price felt a little on the high side (compared to other venues), but we got a lot of food for it in return. And who are we kidding. It's so much cheaper than back at home.

The woman in charge works the restaurant solo and is such a vibrant light in the room. Her English is good, het energie is great.

The food is really good. We didn't know what to expect when we got the vegan okonomiyaki, but it tastes great. Pick a size, M or L, pick five vegetables (eg. asparagus or potato) and whether you like (vegan) cheese. There is also a vegan mayo at or close to your tabel that you can use.

You can refill drinks for the price of 200 yen, which is a good deal.

The rooms are small but so much fun. A lot of guests have written down fun messages, and we met a lot of other tourists (mostly Australian). Everyone is there for the same reason, and everyone has a good vibe.

All in all, I'd say: join the queue at Oko, pick up a plate of Okonomiyaki and a drink. Do your duty in the self service part, and make some new friends along the way.

Such an amazing vegan/vegetarian experience!

An unique experience

The whole restaurant is managed by just one person. I would recommend to be there as soon as possible, because it's a very popular place in Osaka. Shiho ,the owner, is very cute and the Okonomiyaki was very good. The whole restaurant has an unique, cozy atmosphere.

Really great

Even though their okonomiyaki are made with okara instead of flour I’m not totally sure I’m buying that these are « healthy, » but they are certainly hearty, filling, and delicious. You can customize your okonomiyaki by choosing five vegetables. I used carrots, potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and green onions. It was really filling and I couldn’t finish. They also have vegan and gluten-free gyoza!

The space is super cute and funky which works for street food. Because it’s a lot bigger the wait is also shorter then their takoyaki restaurant. It’s a bummer they started serving meat, but I understand the reasoning with such a large space… I wish restaurants didn’t have to make such concessions but my guess is the gluten-free angle brought them more guests than the vegan one. It was nice to see so many people in line reading the vegan menu, though! Oko is helping spread the word!

Delicious food, but long lines

The food was really delicious, but the waiting time is huuuge since it's so crowded. The Restaurant is completely run by one person, she does everything by herself. You order, pay, get a number and go upstairs for a seat, then she calls your number threw a Microphone and you can get your order. Drinks are self service. The okonomiyaki we're huge and delicious. You can choose your own ingredients and make the okonomiyaki to your personal liking. I loved the food, but because everything is run by one person and it's crowded, you have to wait very long to order. We arrived at 6 when the store opened, only to find a huuge Line already. We waited for more than an hour to order, the cooking itself was pretty fast. The food was so good that it's worth the wait, but you'll definitely have to make some time in your travel schedule for the wait.

Amazing japanese vegi/vegan food

The best japanese food I ate in Japan! Shiho is amazing managing the place on her own, plus she is very friendly and speaks english. We ordered the vegi yakisoba, vegan okonomiyaki and vegan gyoza and everything was amazing! Totally recommend this place if you're visiting Osaka! The portions were satisfying and the drinks are cheap, usually have a long line but luckly when we arrived we only waited a few minutes (8pm) The place has 5 floors and a smoking room plus a rooftop which is nice to sit at on sunny days.

Delicious

Some of the best food I’ve had on my trip to Japan! The okonomiyaki is freshly made and it tastes amazing. The downside is the potential long line (I went before it even opened, and there were already 2 people in front of me), but worth the wait.

Pros: Delicious food, Amazing space

Cons: Usually crowded

A bizarre delight with ridiculously long queues

Delicious food. I wanted to try okonomiyaki, a local speciality, and it did not disappoint.

Weirdly they trade heavily on vegan food, but do offer non-vegan options. The cooking area is right next to the queue, and open, so you might be exposed to grilling meat smells

Pros: Very tasty, filling food, Great atmosphere, once you get in, Cheap drinks, make your own

Cons: Had to queue for a long time to get in, Had to wait quite a while for food as well

Popular and Very Oishi!

Very tasty, huge portion size, we ordered 2 medium and it was more than enough for 3 of us. We had Okonomiyaki with potato, spinach, green onion, mixed beans, carrot, and cheese (vegan option available). Long wait (about an hour). The sign said the busiest times between 6:10pm and 9:40pm, we arrived about 8:20pm hence the wait.
