The café is really pretty, it is a nice place to sit both inside and outside and the food was also good. I tried the toast with avocado and beetroot hummus which I loved. I've had better vegan brownies than theirs though but I enjoyed the fresh fruits with it!

I went to Nicolau Lisboa to grab something ‘small and simple’. I went for Tosta Amélia and it was super nice. They put the whole avocado on the toast! I also got a freshly made juice which felt so good in the summer heat.

Localizado em plena baixa de Lisboa, podemos escolher entre a agradável esplanada ou ficar no interior acompanhados por uma boa banda sonora. Não aceitam reservas mas não esperámos pela mesa. O espaço é realmente muito giro, bem decorado e com uma vibe muito simpática e acolhedora. Pedi o hambúrguer de grão vegan (com espinagres, tomate e maionese de caril vegan), que vem acompanhado por chips de batata doce. Apesar de termos esperado um pouco pela comida, a escolha não desiludiu! O pão era colorido e saboroso, o hambúrguer, apesar de simples, estava muito bem conseguido, em termos de textura, e tinha um sabor fresco que combinava bem com o grão e as especiarias. A dose de batatas que acompanha é realmente generosa, pelo que considero que seja um prato muito acessível em termos de quantidade, qualidade e preço. Pedimos, também, a limonada e gostámos! Sem açúcar e bem fresca, com o forte sabor a limão, como se espera. O valor ronda os 10 euros por pessoa.

We went here on a Tuesday around 6 in the afternoon and there was no wait to get in. The staff was upbeat and we got served quickly. We both enjoyed our food and the inside of the restaurant looks nice.

Beautiful place but not worth it! Well under staffed, they were obviously rushed off their feet but no hospitality whatsoever, had to ask twice to order. Then they served us cow milk instead of oat and I had to check again when it came.

Read moreWe had a tapioca crepe, a latte and an iced coffee here. Nothing exciting.
One of the weaker iced lattes I had, relatively bitter, also with disposable straw.
The tapioca crepe usually isn’t vegan, it comes with Nutella, we asked them to veganize it. They did so, but just left the Nutella out (same prize), so the whole thing was pretty dry. Could have pimped it a little in any kind of way.
Staff was relatively slow and as we paid, the waiter suggested me how much to tip (too much), which I found to be not amusing. Maybe it was a language issue though.
There are way more nice (all vegan) places or spots with better option around.

There are not many vegan options on the menu but what they offer is very tasty and well presented. Nice ambiance, friendly staff and not so clean bathrooms. In a trendy location with outdoor seating.

A handful of vegan options on the menu. Could be better marked, though. Hummus was delicious! Chickpea curry was good, but the rice was a bit on the dry side. Service was a bit slow, but there were a lot of people in the place.

Not a lot of vegan options. I had the flower power bowl which was just okay, not a lot of flavor. And my sister had a poke bowl without tuna but instead avocado. She was charged 2 euro extra for it. I had a Bellini which was good. Wouldn’t return.

very well taken care of café in the central. there is often a queue but as the service is quite fast, we didnt have any waiting time. the vegan dishes are marked although there are not too many. check out the drinks as they make fresh juices and try the wake up shot, its awsome. the stuff is very attentive and fast.

So… I have been to Basilio and had an amazing experience. But Nicolau is so not like it. The staff first of all didn’t spoke any Portuguese at all and was not able to get our orders. My friend wanted a coffee with milk (pretty normal in Portugal) and the staff didn’t really understood that, even though she later said just a cappuccino. In the end she got a cup of black coffee and a separate glass of milk (extra costs of course).
Read moreI was really looking forward to the pancakes… they looked so good, but they were basically gingerbread in a pancake shape and super dry. I have no idea what they did but these weren’t pancakes. The only good thing here was the matcha latte.
Can’t recommend this place at all.

We went there and were lucky to get a table right away. 5 minutes later around 10 people were cueing and I don’t understand why.
Read moreI had mango coconut milk smoothie which was so watered down and tasted like a bad piña colada. We shared the vegan pancakes which was pretty dry, even when soaked in the syrup. The toast with beetroot hummus was bland, even salt couldn’t improve it. Also the bread was weirdly dry and soft at the same time? Apart from the fact that I don’t get the Portuguese obsession with granola, it was very weirdly soggy as well and had no taste to it.
Wouldn’t return, very disappointing
