Macrobiotic goodness

I used to follow a macrobiotic diet about 20 years ago and love to see this stall in the Essex market have dishes along those lines. It's great to have simply made dishes that are too processed or salty.

Love that they have options

I personally wouldn’t order from here again. The bento box did not taste very fresh or flavorful. Much better options available

Vegan bento!

Vegan bento is excellent. Tastes so fresh and clean. Nice variety of items for sale on their shelves, too.

Good Japanese option at Essex Market

Love this place, delicious vegan bento box, vegan Donburi.

Pros: Multiple vegan items indicated on menu, The real deal - the owners are Japanese

Delightful Japanese Food

I first discovered this place when it was a pop-up shop in the East Village so I was happy when I found this permanent spot in the new Essex Market food hall.

You can get a variety of sushi and other delicious snacks (such as tofu pockets) as well as bento boxes. The vegan bento is $14 and contains rice, tofu omelette and three sides of veggies, including squash, beets and kale. The ingredients of the bentos change on a regular basis.

They also have vegan matcha latte (hot or cold) with your choice of oat, hemp or almond milk.

The food is clean, healthy and delicious!

Neighborhood jewel

In a market famous for its butcher and cheese shop, this little Japanese deli is a great find. Small and unassuming, but filled with funky finds like seaweed chips, it offers good vegan noodle soups and other veg food choices clearly labeled as plant-based.

Pros: Location, Teas

Cons: Sells fish
