Not good :(

AVOID unless they revamp the menu. We were excited to try the vegan tasting menu, but I couldn’t eat most of the courses. I have a very adventurous palette and am not at all the pretentious eater. The chef clearly has potential and creative flare but the beet poke was way too earthy and flavorless, the onion and gnocchi was inedible, and the mushroom squash course was also bad. Not to mention several courses did not look appetizing. We left extremely disappointed.

Pros: The corn fritto was delicious , The ambiance is nice

Cons: Couldn’t stomach most of the courses

Think twice before coming here

I was excited to try this spot because it has a vegan tasting menu, but aside from the interesting presentation and kind servers, I was disappointed in the taste and quality of the dishes. For the price, I would’ve expected it to taste better. My group (non-vegans) felt the same about their tasting menu too.

Pros: Presentation of the dishes, Servers

Cons: Value, Taste

Agreed, these other reviews are being generous. For the price I paid I expected good food, it was really bad. None of it made sense.

Great fancy vegan

Lots of vegan options but could easily be totally vegan place if they tried. I had fries, salad. Zucchini appetizer, and portobello mushroom main entree. It was really good.
Well addendum: not worth the price. Don’t recommend it!

Absolutely awful and incredibly expensive

Wow, what can I say. I've eaten at vegan restaurants all over the world, and reside in LA, but this tops one of the worst meals I've ever had. It was so bad I had to make a review here.

So we did the tastinf menu, 6 courses for $120 each. My total was $280, and for that price I could have done 2 Shojin meals back in LA. Oh and this place serves meat, I thought that it was vegetarian (even though it's not much better) so this gets even more thumbs down.

6 courses of the smallest plates you could ever imagine with the weirdest slices you could ever imagine and the weirdest food pairings you could ever imagine. Our server was awkward. The only points they get were for the lava rock charcoal falafel and hearts of palm. But you only get to one piece each so who cares?!

The French onion soup was disgusting and the beet poke was gross too. My stomach was in knots after the meal because the food combinations were so weird. We felt stranded in there for 2.5 hours and ate a total of 200 calories and spent almost $300. DO NOT GO HERE, SERIOUSLY. Don't even try, you will be pissed. We went to Roys the night before and ate their tasting menu and holy mother of god what a difference. Roys gave me more amazing vegan food than I could imagine for $60 a person. Seriously the amount of food was silly.

Avoid this place like the plague. I was miserable everytime they brought out another course, what a horrible experience and meal.

Pros: The plates looked kind of cool, The Lychee Collins drink was okay

Cons: PRICE , MICROSCOPIC PORTIONS, FOOD WAS AWFUL

Playful elevated dining

My husband and I enjoyed a fun evening sitting at the chefs table in the kitchen. We had the Aina sampler menu. So many unique textures flavor’s temperatures. They were so mouthwatering! The atmosphere is chic and cozy. The utensils a nod to urchin spines, the plates ice and wood. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable too. The whole experience was fantastic! Not at all snobby, very calm but playful vibe.

Pros: Food, Staff, Atmosphere

Wonderful experience

We had the vegan course menu and added dessert. All dishes were creatively presented and tasted great. Purple sweet potato mont blanc was so delicious. The manager, sous chef and wait staff were all friendly and cordial. Love the understated decor.

Must Visit

This place was my first stop on my Hawaii vacation. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu and they even have a set 3-6 course vegan tasting menu. We ordered the sourdough bread, charcoal battered heart of palm beignets, and the 3 course vegan tasting menu. The heart of palm beignets were fantastic and very unique. I really enjoyed them. The tasting menu items were great as well. Beautiful presentation on everything. The last item on the tasting menu, the tofu steak, was we excellent.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s a nice upscale place and their customer service shows that.

You simply MUST go here

If I could give it 5 stars I would. The vegan tasting menu is the best I've ever had, even better than 2 star Michelin restaurants. If you are vegetarian or vegan in Waikiki you HAVE to go here.

Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance

Everything was incredible. It's worth it. So many ingredients one doesn't usually encounter, local produce, prepared by master chefs.

Exceptional food and service

The plant based degustation is highly recommended to anyone looking for a fine dining experience while in Waikiki. Chef Nae has composed a brilliant symphony of flavours and textures that were creatively presented. The staff - particularly Johnny - were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Truly outstanding to have an offering like this in Waikiki.

Pros: Locally sourced produce, Thoughtful flavours and presentation, Non alcoholic drink pairings

Cons: Not for those on a tight budget

Loved the vegan pasta dishes

Loved the vegan corn gnocchi and pesto, however, it’s a shame this restaurant isn’t fully vegan or even vegetarian!

Pros: Unique pasta dishes

Cons: Not fully vegan

Interesting but not delicious

natuRe, located upstairs from Zigu, is an elevated, fine dining experience. The service was attentive, although the food came out incredibly slowly. The menu of vegan options is also extensive. The food was interesting but not delicious. By far, one of the best choices was the truffle fries, which came with a generous dusting of truffles on perfectly cooked skinny fries. The black garlic alioli had a creamy mouth feel that paired perfectly with the fries.
For me, the pesto dish was a total miss. The pesto tasted off. Perhaps the mix of vegan cheese and no pine nuts just didn't work. It was also extremely salty, and I love salt. The desert was good. The cashew ice cream had a flawless texture. For a high-end restaurant, the experience felt uneven. Attentive staff but food took a ridiculously long time to come out. Interesting food ideas, beautifully plated but some serious misses with flavor.

One of the most creative vegan offerings I have ever had with a six-course menu. Amazing presentations, exciting flavors, and unparalleled creativity make this cozy spot a must when I’m in Waikiki.

Could be better

Reviews misled me to believe there were a lot of vegan options. In reality there was only one vegan main course on the regular menu. On the plus side, that option was not a veggie burger like it is at so many other places. There was a vegan appetizer and a vegan dessert too so that was nice. But on the down side, the meal was very pricey.

Fine dining all vegan, woo!

So so cool to find a fine dining restaurant that is all vegan. The 4 of us did it and we all got the different drink pairing which was nice to have all of those options too. The food was loaded with flavor in every single bite. I know it’s fine dining, I just wish there was a little bit more in each course because it is so delicious!!! We ended up getting both desserts afterwards because we just knew it would be worth it!

Pros: Nice presentation, Theme of sustainability , Hawaiian flavors coming through

Cons: Small portions but it is fine dining

5+++

True vegan fine dining. It was such a treat to have the most creative and thoughtful vegan dishes throughout the entire vegan tasting menu. I can’t emphasize how RARE this experience is for vegans. Michelin star flavor profiles, exceptional service and ambiance. Another first for me was the non alcoholic paring which was so thoughtfully curated to compliment each course. It is a must try for anyone vegan or not. I’m just beaming at how wonderful this experience was. I already booked another reservation.

5++++++ Stars

This was an INCREDIBLE meal. 5 courses of thoughtful, provocative, delicious vegan food that felt like a Michelin starred feast. Not only that - but we did the non-alcoholic pairing and again- we were just beyond impressed - so often the non- drinkers have so few options. Not here. Honestly, one of the best meals of my life - what an absolute treat. If you only go to one restaurant, or splurge on one meal when you are in Waikiki- make it this one.

Pros: Michelin star quality food, Amazing service, Outstanding non-alcoholic cocktails
