Deli cafe, take-away and shop - wholesome food but serves meat too - Edit
Gorgeous buzzing and quirky atmosphere in this deli cafe in a lovely area of Torquay. The homemade food is so so delicious, and lots is locally sourced. Eyeing up what they currently have in the deli counter is part of the fun. They have lovely fresh salad selections which you can get on its own as a salad plate or team it with a pasty or sausage roll or quiche etc. The food tastes so fresh and flavoursome. They have great cake selections too - the only down side is that the vegan options are surprisingly limited.
Read moreThe foods in the counter are all clearly labelled, a heart for vegan options, stickers also marking allergens eg contains gluten or contains milk etc.
I would love to see some more vegan options to make this place a go-to, but they do still have some selections which are clearly labelled. Plant milks are available for an extra 30p.
There is also a good selection to buy of foods eg. Bread, crackers, spreads, some veg, drinks etc as well as well sourced products for your home decor, gifts, mugs, tea towels etc.
The staff are friendly and kind, you never feel rushed.
The deli is decorated wonderfully, fairy lights and disco balls and baskets adorn the ceiling, the “wine room” at the back no longer appears to sell wine but is decorated in gorgeous colourful wallpaper prints, fun colours, with a wall of books (and children’s toys etc on the bottom shelf). Even the toilet is decorated in such a fun lovely way!
Do note that the prices in the deli counter are the prices to take away and the slightly different eat in prices are on the blackboard.
The parking on the road outside can get very busy particularly at peak times - it is free to park for 2 hours. If you don't mind a bit of a walk up hill, further down the road is even more parking without time restrictions.
Kid-friendliness: There is a shelf with children's toys, books, colouring books and pencils etc to entertain children while you're in the cafe. There is a make shift bench set up for baby changing, it's a little low but it does the trick!
Pros: Wholesome foods freshly prepared, Lots of foods locally sourced , Quirky atmosphere / decor
Cons: Needs more vegan options , Slightly expensive , Parking is tricky

Lovely deli - Edit
Build your own lunch place where you choose from the items in their fresh and attractive salad bar. I chose the spicy bean pastry and two salad options. My friend ordered a vegetarian baguette and said it was the best sandwich she’d had.

Upmarket deli & café - Edit
Me & Mrs Jones is a deli & café, located in the heart of Wellswood, Torquay. It is open for lunches, drinks and take-out.

A popular, quirky place full of well-dressed ladies of a certain age. It's a good idea to book a table as they get full. If you inform them you are vegan when booking, they will offer a wider selection of food.
Pros: Natural, quirky decor, Tasty vegan options
Cons: Not a lot of choices for vegans, Not all salads are vegan

Posh deli with veggie & vegan options - Edit
Situated in middle of Wellswood shopping street with daytime and Friday night opening. Not exclusively vegetarian but good range of veggie tarts with salad and also vegan pasties and bean wraps. Very popular with locals so booking advised. Food very tasty with interesting and varied salads. Dishes shown come in at £10:50 so not cheap. Also has deli takeaway.
