einfach liebe pur - Edit

Leckerer traditioneller Hummus - Edit

Highly recommended during lunch break for a great menu for a fair price.
Pros: great vegan options, amazing hummus, good weekly menu

Delicious hummus, super friendly staff, clean and well decorated. Very pleasantly surprised finding this little gem on our first night and keen to return. Can't understand the previous bad review, we had 2 bowls of hummus, falafel, a bulgar wheat salad, 2 amazing desserts and 2 beers all for under 30 Euro.

Overpriced and poor taste - Edit
I love hummus and falafel and when I found this restaurant on Happy Cow I had no other choice than trying this place who claims that hummus is more than just a side dish - what I think as well. But I was SO disappointed: if I could, I would give this place just a single star. I had hummus with ful and it tasted like nothing. My partner had vegetarian hummus with walnuts, beetroot and feta cheese what sounded awesome but he was also more than disappointed. Same with their falafel. And each plate of hummus costs round about 7-8€! We payed 30€ for two plates of hummus, three falafels and two drinks. Every store bought hummus has more taste and I really cannot understand why this place is so overrun. It’s a really nice location with friendly staff but it’s not worth the money.

Hi, there! We are really sorry that it was not your taste and that your experience was so bad that you feel the need to give us a one star review. But if you prefer store bought hummus with preservatives (do you mean that with taste?) over our every day fresh made hummus we definetly don´t match. Good that there are different tastes in the world! Concerning your perception about high prices: Good and authentic ingredients and fair payed staff have their prices. Our customers appreciate that. Hope your next hummus experience is a better one - cause nobody should lead a life without good hummus!

Lovely hummus! - Edit
I had the lunch special and was delighted to hear that the beetroot and walnut hummus could also be prepared vegan, without the fetta cheese. I paid 10 euros for the hummus with two green falafels, an Arabian red cabbage and date salad, and a beverage of my choice (mint tea, of course.) That was really best value for money. The food tasted absolutely great, probably because it´s homemade and without any preservatives. The staff were very friendly and the place itself is charming in its own way. On my next visit to Cologne I´ll definitely be back to try some of the other hummus options.

Wonderful Hummus! - Edit
This place had fantastic hummus and tasty falafel. The arabic red cabbage was simply delicious! The pita comes out warms and is thick enough to make sandwiches ( if you choose with your falafel plate). They offer fresh made that day hummus to go/take away. The lunch special was enough food- I had leftovers. The staff that assisted me spoke English fluently, and there is an English menu available.

Awesome, authentic Hummus. 80% vegan! - Edit
As I‘ve heard so many great things about this place I had to try it and I‘m in love with the whole concept. At Mashery they serve Hummus with several creative toppings as a main dish and also a few sides. Everything is homemade (except the israelian bread), fresh and the quality and taste is exceptional. Also the staff is super friendly and helpful. I guess that 80% of the menu is vegan and the vegetarian ingredients are organic. Also, they try and veganize every dish if it’s possible and you simply ask for it. Modern, yet warm atmosphere and super clean. For 10€ you‘ll get a lunch menu with a great value for money and the prices in general are very reasonable regardind the quality you‘ll get. Say yes to Hummus!!

Delicious and authentic Hummus - Edit
I have never been to Israel, so I cannot compare the hummus to the very "original" from there, but I really liked it. Although it seems unusual to have hummus as the main dish and falafel and salad as a side, I recommend going there and trying it. The hummus is very tasty and the falafels are very good too. Try some self-made pickles as a topping as well. They also offer weekly offers like vegan chia pudding, so you might even find a dessert.

Yummy for Mummy! - Edit
On a short break to Cologne ( via train, not flying ) we took my almost 87 year old mum here for lunch, on 24 May; I am very lucky enough to have been to a number of hummus restaurants in Israel, especially Tel Aviv, Jaffa and Acre and this German version did not disappoint at all.
Read moreEnglish is spoken ( I know, I feel bad about not speaking the local language but there you go ) and everyone was very helpful. My mum uses a wheelchair to get about and we had no issues in getting her in, or for her using the facilities whilst there.
The hummus is lush - very smooth, and made on the premises daily from dried chickpeas ( I'm nosy, I asked ) .
We had no idea that the restaurant was only 3 days old but that explained the balloons decorating the place!
Loved the food, we all did, and mum loved the ambience and the fresh flowers. Well worth a visit - scrummy!
Pros: Lovely hummus, Light and airy and easy to find and access
Cons: It's in Germany and we live in England!
