Okayish Finger food - Edit
The Sgagliozze tasted kinda like salty popcorn, but they were really oily. Not that much taste itself, but that's okay I think. We used it as starter to go before going to a different place and than it's ok. Otherwise 10 pieces would be really greasy for one person.
Read moreIt's still a nice experience, as it's a traditional food and really really cheap (2€ for 10 pieces)
Pros: Fast, Cheap
Cons: Greasy

Tasteless, but famous - Edit
It's basically deep-fried cornflour with salt, so I wasn't expecting much flavour. Occasionally you get a hint of tortilla chip or popcorn when eating a crispy bit, but mostly it tastes of nothing at all.
Read moreStill, it's authentic Italian food, vegan, and dirt cheap (2€ for about as much as one person can eat), so there's not much lost by trying it.
Also, note that although they are officially open until 21:00 according to the sign on the door, they actually closed at around 20:00 every day I was there. I'd suggest showing up at least an hour before closing time.
Pros: Cheap, Vegan, Authentic Italian food
Cons: Bland, Long wait, Closes earlier than official opening hours claim

It's okay .. - Edit
If the polenta is thin it's good because it's salty and crispy. The thick ones are a bit bland.

Great snack - Edit
I had the "Popizze" which are made from water, flour and olive oil and fried in sunflower oil. Then sprinkled with sugar and/or salt.
Read moreI also had the Sgagliozze (fried polenta) and I fell in love. 😍

Must try if you like crispy, salty fried food - Edit
This hole-in-a-wall operation only sells one thing—deep fried polenta squares. The amount of salt the old lady throws into each order of piping hot polenta is not for the faint of heart, but oh are they so crispy and snackable. It's very cheap too, only €2 for 10 pieces.

Simple but delicious - Edit
We can't expect from a dish that is fried corn seasoned with salt to be much more than that, the texture is very good as is the taste, and it's a great snack.

If you dont like salt don’t try it, but if you want to try something really typical from Barri it’s the spot to go! It’s greasy and salty but still good, an experience in it self! I would still recommend you try it if you’re ever in Barri!

Don't skip this one if you're in Bari - Edit
Apparently this is a must-try in Bari and I definitely recommend it! Maria and her daughter make polenta bars, a Bari speciality - it's just water, polenta and salt fried in sunflower oil and somehow it is so good! Also, it's only €1 for a bag of 6. There can be quite a queue at times but it moves pretty fast as they take orders of lots of people at the same time and prepare big batches right in front of you as you wait.
