Delicious babaganouj!

They have a few different falafel sandwich options that vary by fillings. I highly recommend getting one of the options with babganouj. I got the Manhattan and it was delicious! They’re also very generous with their pickled veggies. Pita bread was just OK but it’s still a great sandwich.

Pro tip: I thought it would come with spicy sauce but apparently you need to ask for it. I’ll try to remember that for next time.

Flavorful Falafel & Fresh Sauces 🥙

Really good spot with quite a few vegan options. Their food is super flavorful, and I especially love their pita stuffed with falafel — always fresh and satisfying. Make sure you load up on all the sauces!

Tasty falafel from the OG falafel spot in NYC

Ordered the Manhattan signature sandwich. Although it wasn’t my all-time fave falafel, it was still very very good! The pita got a bit soggy in transit, so it fell apart slightly upon eating it. Disappointed they didn’t sell fries despite having it listed on their website’s menu.

Small, dimly light interior with limited, covered outdoor seating.

Accepted credit card (although there’s a 4% discount for cash purchases).

Best falafel in the city

I’ve been going to mamoun’s since 2009 (back when a falafel was only $2.50!). I CRAVE this place every time I’m in nyc. The OG NYC falafel and still the best I’ve ever had in the USA. They’re now a small chain. This is the original location and the only one worth going to. The other more corporate locations are not as good. Beware, the hot sauce is INSANELY hot, and they are cash only.

Options everywhere

Was presently surprised that my non-veg friend picked this and that there were clearly labeled vegan options on the menu! My classic sandwich was so good #Veganuary

Mamoun’s

This is a very well-known restaurant offering falafel / Middle Eastern. I ordered a falafel sandwich and ate it at Washington Square Park almost across the street, which was a nice option. Definitely recommend trying this out if you’re in the area.

Iconic falafel eatery

This was one of the first falafel restaurants in NYC. Back in the 1970's, Macdougal Street was packed with falafel restaurants--but ironically, you couldn't find falafel anywhere else in town!

Though very small, and mostly for takeout, Mamoun's had a reputation as the best falafel place on the block (which essentially was the same as saying the best falafel place in Manhattan), and the falafel here is still really good. There are other Mamoun branches by now, but this is the original; I give this branch of Mamoun's extra star in my rating in recognition of its place in history.

AMAZING

Manhattan is the best. Little bit every vegan option in one order. Seasoned fries are vegan and are amazing too. Great place no complaints. Website and in person menu specify what’s vegan/vegetarian

Pros: Tasty Food, Good service , Affordable

Cons: Lack of vegan desserts
