Finally Wouk Up Again - Edit
Quite often, I forego returning to familiar places in favour of new establishments simply for the sake of exploration rather than guaranteed satiation. It is a process that has stood me in good stead over time as I have broadened both my culinary knowledge and my palate. Yet, there is a downside to this never-ending quest for the new. Occasionally, some would be stalwarts who fade from memory and become all but forgotten about – case in point, this particular chain.

On this occasion, at this new location, it was absolutely and unequivocally no different.
Even the most basic of items, the rustic fries, were fantastic. Crisp, well-seasoned, and texturally excellent, they just hit differently from the bog-standard chips you might expect to find at an eatery such as this.
The other sides didn’t either. The fattoush brought a freshness and levity to proceedings; the hummus wraps were a brilliant precursor to their more substantial peers, and while the hummus and tabbouleh were each great in their own right, my brainwave of combining them and adding some excess dressing proved to be inspired.
As for the main events, the plaudits don’t abate. The quite frankly massive fries sandwich was on par with any chip butty I’ve ever had; the switch shawarma was sinfully meaty; and the brace of bold salads – the teriyaki and Mexican – delivered all their promised flavours.
I still can’t quite fathom how it took me this long to return to this marvellous outfit, but rest assured that now I have rekindled this relationship, I won’t let it flame out again.
