Fabulous meals for difficult diners - Edit
It was somewhat of an issue to find a place here in Yamagata that could accommodate my vegan preferences and my friend's gluten free restrictions . I'm also trying to reduce my sodium intake, but figured that it might not be possible here. I still love salty foods, so I was willing to fall on my own sword here. That was unnecessarily accommodating of me. 🤣
Read moreWe came after 7p on a Sunday night. After my friend spent about 5 minutes trying to talk with the staff about her gluten issues, and thought she had ordered the butter chicken, we were told to wait. My order was not taken any I wondered why.
About 10 minutes later Pankaj, the owner showed up and guided us to an incredible meal that addressed all our needs and preferences deliciously!
My friend really enjoyed her medium spiced chicken curry over rice! I was tentative about ordering chana masala without any salt, but it was the best chana masala I'd ever had!
I was curious about the chocolate naan on the menu and had to try it. OMG two types of chocolate and it was thick and rich and wonderful!!!
I've had many excellent Indian meals in Japan. It's a real thing here, and I've never had a better meal than at Magic Spice.
Panjak and his wife took this restaurant over from the original owners after COVID. They have kept the restaurant's original vibe while adding their own special recipes for amazing food!
We're so glad we found this gem and plan to return before we leave Yamagata the day after tomorrow.
Pros: Very accommodating staff , Delicious fresh food made to order!, Plentiful parking!
