Lekker ❤️ - Edit

Great place - Edit
We go here every time we visit Ghent, and we were never disappointed. Only downside to this place is the limited seating, but usually there's some place left on the benches next to the window.
Read moreTheir homemade milks go great with their coffee, and the caramel popcorn you get with every order is a nice addition. They have great breakfast options, including pancakes and rice pudding.
Pros: Great food and coffee, Nice place

You come for the cake ... and leave with more cake - Edit
The cakes are amazing. You'll be coming back and again and again.
Read moreThe hot chocolate milk is the best accompaniment for any pie with chocolate in it (there's no such thing as too much chocolate!!).
The pancakes are good, but a bit too expensive for what they are.
The pop corn they give you with each order ... wow. I ended up buying a whole bucket of pop corn.

Fab cakes and delicious homemade hazelnut milk! - Edit
We almost missed this cafe, but so glad we stumbled in for a coffee and cake. They make two nut-based milks on site - almond and hazelnut - the hazelnut milk is particularly delicious!
Read moreThe cakes are really good; the ingredients sounded a bit too healthy for my usual taste, but I’m glad I got over my prejudice, because they’re actually quite indulgent. We tried an avocado & lemon tart, a chocolate tart made with tofu, and an apple tart. We also had a bowl of lovely popcorn!
They don’t use refined sugars in their recipes, so our non-vegan friend who is diabetic was thrilled! And the service is really great!
Pros: Hazelnut milk is the best, Good range of cakes, Lovely service

Pricey Treats - Edit
Their house made milk is amazing but their desserts just aren't that special to me. Also they only accept cards which is really inconvenient for tourists. I usually skip this place and go to Full Circle, they accept cash and have better hours anyway.

Also caters to other restaurants - Edit
I have not been to the location of Madam Bakster in Ghent it self, but have tasted her pies at different other locations. For example at De KleinKeuken in Kortrijk and Histoires d'O in Ostend.
Read moreThe pies are very characteristic raw food type pies.
They taste good, but are rather dense, and a bit too heavy for my liking.

Delicious - Edit
The best vegan desserts and great coffee (the iced latte was so good). The complementary popcorn is also delicious. Everything is presented beautifully - next time I will get a few slices to take away for non-vegan family to try. They really do show how wonderful vegan desserts can be. Thank you!

So good! - Edit
Really nice place with very nice staff. I ordered an iced latte with hazelnut milk and it was SO GOOD. The hazelnut and almond milk is home made (!) They offered a lot of vegan desserts; most of them (If not all) sugar free.

Great Vegan Bakery and Coffee House - Edit
I've visit the coffee house frequently and ordered multiple pies already. I always had a great experience with the warm people and the lovely way they welcomed us in 'their home'.

Coffee, deserts and breakfast have never let me down at Madam Bakster. Nevertheless it is great to be served by the 'Madam' herself, it feels like a Bakster-family who gives me the great joy of being there.
My favorites: the Elodie with a nice hazelnut-latte.
I hope that one day, they are open 7 days a week. :)
Pros: Delicious pastery and coffee, Lovely staff, Biological, fresh & products as local as possible
Cons: opening hours

Great coffee and cakes - Edit
At Madam Bakster, in my opinion, you can drink the most delicious vegan cappuccino. They make the almond and hazelnutmilk themselves and it's great. I also like the 'guiltfree' desserts, especially the 'Basiel' (it's like a Snickers but healthier). You get a bit of popcorn when you drink something in the bar but you can also buy a little bucket of popcorn, certainly recommended!

Quite nice but not the price - Edit
Nice and cozy restaurant but very expensive for the portions they offer. I was disappointed because I assumed they will have some pastry too but that was not the case. They only offer cakes and bars. The cakes are really small. I tried apple cake with granola crumble but it was nothing special really. Tea was great and it was served with little bowl of sugar-coated popcorn which was also good.

Lush and Refreshing - Edit
Having heard a lot about their taarten, I could not resist to stop by and try a piece.
Read moreThey did not have all of the cakes that are advertised on their website in stock when I was there, but I presume the offer varies daily, and it is quite diverse as it also includes other baked goods such as muffins for instance. Moreover, if you want to try a specific cake flavour, you can pre-order online. Therefore, you can't really get disappointed, especially considering that everything looks just so good!
The staff was very friendly and happily wrapped up my piece of "Daisy" cake so that I could have it on the go. The cake itself was amazing, a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely worth the money!
All that said, I will probably head back there soon to treat myself.
