Lumuma is lu-yummy! - Edit
Several months ago while in Nepal, I happened upon Lumuma one evening while walking in the Lakeside District of Pokhara. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a very friendly little dog who belongs to the restaurant's owners. After fawning over their fur baby, I had a great conversation with Pratash and Dine (spelling?), a lovely, warm Nepali-Danish couple.
Read moreThe restaurant is next to the lake and has several seating options: at regular-height tables on a covered porch or out in the open on a patio or the grass and low tables with cushions for sitting on the floor. All the seats have a picturesque view of the lake. The evening I was there, there was live music by a singer accompanying himself on the guitar. The music was enjoyable to listen to and the volume was at a good level that didn't drown out conversation with fellow diners.
Lumuma serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu is extensive and all vegan!! I had the Sesame Soba Salad, which was yummy with a very flavorful dressing. Then for dessert I had the Snickers Pie, a raw pie made from dates, almonds, peanuts, and coconut and covered with a layer of chocolate. It was soooo good--all my sweet teeth were swooning! I enjoyed my dinner so much that I knew I had to go back and check out their breakfast offerings before I left Pokhara a couple days later. My breakfast was just as tasty as my dinner had been. I had the Buckwheat Pancakes with Caramel Sauce and Apple. The pancakes had a good texture just right for absorbing the caramel sauce, which combined nicely with the apple and wasn't overly sweet. I also had the Mango Smoothie (made with soy milk), which was nice and thick and delicious.
If I had stayed longer in Pokhara, I would have certainly gone back yet again. The food is delicious, the views are beautiful and the overall ambience of Lumuma is relaxing and pleasant. The next time I'm in Pokhara, Lumuma is the first restaurant I'm going to--and everyone else should too!
Pros: Delicious food, Nice ambiance, Great greeter dog!
Cons: None--I loved everything!

Great food - Edit
I had the tempeh steak wrap and chocolate fudge. The food wasn't exactly what I expected from the name/description, but both were great. I had read negative comments about the service before I came, but didn't experience it that way - service was not the most attentive, but all I had to do to get their attention was stand up to see where they were, which I think is fine.
Read moreThe tempeh wasn't in steak form, but was perfectly tasty in a fried crumbly form. The wrap bread was also very good. The "vegetables" in the description turned out to be fried potatoes. The chocolate fudge had no chocolatey solids like I expected, and instead was three scoops of ice cream (some of the best I've had) with (a slightly coconutty?) chocolate sauce, nuts and raisins.
The place is being redecorated, but wasn't noisy and you can still see the lake.
Edit: This was originally a 5-star review, but I went there a few more times, and unfortunately it was very hit and miss. I don't recommend the sushi (pretty sure that wasn't Japanese rice, it didn't taste like that and the roll kept falling apart). There was construction (use of angle grinder) going on, really noisy and sometimes smelly, and one time I ordered a dessert with ice cream and the waiter told me as he brought it that the fridge had malfunctioned (it was half melted). No discount offered. Considering the prices I find that disappointing.

Pros: Food quality!, Service, Location
Cons: Bit pricey, Lower on veg than menu description suggested, Salad with no dressing (typical for Nepal though)

Slow food - even for Nepal! - Edit
The location by the lake was lovely. The food took a long time to arrive and was pretty average and more expensive (same price but smaller portions) than other places in Pokhara. We liked the fact that they make their own tempeh and tofu, and the tempeh was good. We ended up getting dessert elsewhere so we wouldn’t have to wait for it!

Lumuma has the best views of the lake, really good vegan food, laid back atmosphere…. Should be perfect. Unfortunately the staff is inattentive (and there are many)

Disappointing - Edit
The staff barely acknowledged us when we arrived despite the restaurant being almost empty. They just stared at us until I asked if we can take a seat.
Read moreThe nachos were cold and had a drizzle dressing instead of cheese like on the menu. The eggplant pizza had no tahini on it like the menu promised.
Nice view and music but you can hear people screaming on the theme park rides nearby which hurts the overall ambience.
A jug of room temperature water was on the table but we weren't given glasses or told if it was filtered.
Pros: Location, Overall tasty food
Cons: Very poor service

Great place, delicious breakfast - Edit
We went there for breakfast and really enjoyed the food! It’s great to have a fully vegan restaurant at the lakefront. Plenty of seating options at chairs and tables, the ground with low tables, or in the garden. Clean restroom as well.
Read moreSadly, even though it was empty beside us and we kept ordering drinks and food, we felt like the staff was rushing us out after not even two hours.
The food is really delicious though! The matcha latte was great!

Het personeel is aardig en hulpvol. Het eten is goed. Behoorlijk natuurlijke ingrediënten. Goed gepresenteerd. Helaas hadden ze alleen net niet iets op de kaart wat ik wilde. Maar de Hemp Falafel wrap was lekker!

Really nice - Edit
We arrived in Pokhara and came straight here after a long drive from Kathmandu to find a beautiful view of the lake and helpful, friendly staff. We came two days in a row. Great coffee, well-made cortado. My family really enjoyed the smoothies. I loved the matcha latte and the golden latte. Soy milk properly steamed and not just heated. I had the vegetable stir-fy one day which was tasty and the next the malabar curry which was great and came with delicious tempeh. The food has a wholesome, hippy-ish vibe to it which I really enjoy. My son loved the nachos and my 2-year-old wolfed down the Pink Pasta. The staff were really kind to the kids and it was a good place to take them as you can wander up and down the path by the lake while you wait for food to be ready. Very nice place e to sit and relax. Will definitely be back next time I visit Pokhara.

Overpriced for surprisingly average food... - Edit
I was very excited to come here since it's the only cafe that advertises itself as purely vegan in Pokhara (as of writing this review), but was dissaapointed with some things...
Read moreBut first, the pros: The service was impeccable. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgable of the menu (this last one will be very important later) The ambience was fantastic! We went there at night and the views of the lake at night were gorgeous. The setting was quite romantic.
Now the cons: I was disappointed by what we ordered, especially for the prices. We ordered the Nachos and the Mexican Wrap. It was quite flavorless and we found ourselves reaching for the salt and pepper shakers a little too many times, and asking for more salsas. The guacamole was not guacamole at all, but more just like squashed avocado. The wrap was flimsy and fell apart so easily. It was barely a wrap! We also found a small rock in our nachos! And finally, I was very disappointed by the lack of allergy information on the menu. Many of the vegan cheeses and sauces were, according to staff, made with cashew, but the menu did not mention it except for a few items. As someone with allergies, this could have been very dangerous to me if we had not double checked.
We urge management to be VERY clear with what allergens are in the food!
Overall, I DID enjoy my time there and may edit my review IF we should ever return and have our minds changed about the food. But for now... An average score of 3 stars from me.

Great waffles - Edit
This is the only fully vegan restaurant in Pokhara. They are located right at the lakefront and have a lovely garden seating area overlooking the lake. We came by multiple times during our stay in Pokhara and really enjoyed our time here. Our favorites are their waffles as well as the tofu tikka masala. Only downside is that Lumuma is definitely one of the more expensive restaurants in the area.

the location of the place is amazing with a great view of the lake and they have interesting dishes on the menu. i tried only the sundae and it was way too sweet for me to be honest, and they only had soy milk for drinks, so not my taste but that depends

Great spot not only for vegan but for more healthy food - Edit
We were totally amazed by the lovely location. We drank iced plant-based coffees while watching on the lake and seeing cows in between. A unique combination. The menu is fully with nice food and drinks, which are homemade and natural is used for the food. Can definitely recommend to check this out!

Incredible vegan oasis in Nepal - Edit
Best vegan restaurant in nepal, detailed flavors and creative menu with items like tempeh and cashew cheese that is hard to find here. Even the other “vegan” places nearby offer milk or eggs, so its very comforting to just order off the menu without thinking. So much gf options too. Not oversalted which i respect.
