Terrible. - Edit
I am not about giving a bad review to any vegan/vegetarian restaurants as I support them all, generally speaking. However, we went to the Cat Cafe today which was nearly full when we walked in but virtually everyone had already been served. We ordered a Thai iced tea, peanut butter, chocolate and banana vegan pancakes and a tofu baguette sandwich. We waited about 10 minutes to receive the Thai Ice tea. Ten minutes after that, they dropped a very small and average baguette sammie at our table but no pancakes. A couple that came in after us were served pancakes (ours probably)and an açaí type of breakfast bowl.
Read moreWe waited another 25 minutes before I went to the counter to see what the holdup was. The owner, who I did not see before , intercepted me. I asked if the pancakes had been forgotten. She broke into how she was slammed though there was almost no one left in the restaurant. She said that she had seen them in the kitchen and they were on the griddle. She came back from the kitchen and said they were just finishing up. So, we waited another 15 minutes before we got up to leave. As we're paying for the ice tea and baguette, the pancakes miraculously appeared. We were already paying so we refused them. The waitress just turned and walked over to another table that came in a half hour after us and set our pancakes down at their table.. Now, I do not know for sure if they differentiate between vegan and vegetarian but it didn't appear so to us. I've worked in restaurants so I know things happen but the thing that got me was that the owner flat out lied. All she had to do was say it was missed and that she would take care of it immediately. We would have understood. Then, as we were walking out, she runs up and incredulously asks if there is something wrong. I told here we had been waiting forty minutes for our pancakes and that she had lied about it. For a manager of a restaurant to be this clueless is stunning. Even though, this is the only working restaurant for vegans currently in Luang Prabang, we will never go back.
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Bad service, Small portions and average food.
