u MUST COME HERE immediately. 🍉amaze!!!

sweet spot just off the beautiful tree-lined-perfect-for-biking Esplanade avenue.

amazing VEGAN and veg options, so fresh FLAVORFUL & healthfully delicious. GET THE BURGER. (truly the best i ve had in all of my vegan cafe sojourns) i had 3 cuz we had to return twice during our short visit to NOLA and needed a third to-go for plane ride home!!! seriously even better than that good.

ALSO spring roll salad AMAZE! loved the juices, smoothies, and DESSERTS (healthy whole food plant based deliciousness!!!)

everyone was so helpful & lovely. and as special bonus, diane, the owner, gave us a fab tour of their GORGEOUS sound recording studio next door in a beautifully refurbished church!!

go here NOW and celebrate some deliciousness!!

i seriously cannot wait to return to NOLA & come back to LAMARA.

Be careful if you're vegan

I really dont think this place should call themselves plant based if they aren't fully plant based?? This is what they say on their website. I unknowingly ate eggs here twice by eating the banana nut bread and the lemon loaf. I'm vegan for 10 years. I was really frustrated by this experience. Made it clear from my food/smoothie order that I'm vegan. Making sure that the protein powder is vegan, etc. And then I ordered the loaves (this is 2 separate occasions btw this weekend with 2 separate employees) and neither one of them informed me like "hey just so you know those aren't vegan". Theyre in display cases on the side of the counter so when youre ordering, you cant see them or see labels or anything. I asked them what they are and there was no mention of it being vegetarian and not vegan. I didnt find out until my emailed receipt a day later... really frustrating.

Their food is good. I had the tostada and it was very good. Smoothie was good too. But like not worth all the investigating to order and now this fear of is it vegan or isnt it. The things in the fridge aren't labeled either and I didnt even bother to ask bc I already ordered the loaves. In a place that is so clearly trying to be inclusive of various dietary restrictions, id think their employees would be more mindful about informing people of their choices/things would be better labeled.

And there are so many substitutes for egg in baking that I cant even believe that they use egg in those loaves. Just use applesauce, flax egg, whatever.

Healthy, clean food

I had the Lamara burger, very satisfying. I had one of the best lattes I've ever had (and I have one nearly daily!). The space is lovely and perfect for chilling. No loud music. The outdoor patio is devine, there even is a lounge chair. Has a perfect vibe and great options.

Pros: Beautiful space w/ outdoor patio, Good, clean food, Vegan cookbooks around for looking at and gift ite

Cons: The Lamara burger could use a little kick to it.

Delicious fresh food that’s extremely healthy

Wow. This is the kind of food I CRAVE. Perhaps because they are not fully vegan, Lamara did not show up on my google searches for vegan food when I was initially planning my trip to New Orleans. (They are vegetarian; some items include cheese, eggs, or honey.) I was lucky to discover Lamara on a handy list of veg-friendly spots posted at Breads on Oak.

As soon as I browsed the menu at Lamara, I was infatuated. They are seed oil-free and refined sugar free; they do use coconut oil and olive oil in most dishes, but minimal amounts. They go out of their way to bake many components of their hot dishes such as tortillas, tofu, and potatoes, in order to minimize oil. So many fascinating items like homemade adzuki bean bacon. After much deliberation (since I only had the time for a light meal), I ordered the rainbow tostadas, made with refried pinto beans, oil-free cashew cilantro cream, spiralized yellow beets, romaine, purple cabbage, and avocado on baked corn tortillas. Visually stunning, impeccably fresh, and low in salt (but high in flavor). Impressive. I also had a hot chocolate with their homemade oil-free almond milk; delicious, and quite reasonably priced at only $4. I took the raw protein bites to go (oil-free, with almond butter). Great little treat that I would definitely get again.

I’m basically obsessed with everything this place has to offer, and had a difficult time not ordering one of everything on the menu. In addition, the staff were extremely patient and helpful in answering my many questions about ingredients. They made it easy for me to make the right choices for my diet. I wish there were more places like this. Please open a location in the northeast ASAP! 😍

Pros: Seed oil free and overall low in oil, Extremely knowledgable and helpful staff, Delicious and satisfying food

Solid house-made burger

Pretty much everything in this place is Vegan. Speaking with the cashier, there are just a couple items with honey and egg. The burger Patty is vegan (no-egg).

Pros: Good cafe environment to get some work done.

Cons: Portions could be slightly bigger.

Really Like It

I love their oat milk coffee drinks, the tostadas, and the avocado toast. This place is walking distance for me so slowly getting to know it. Food isn’t made with fatty oils, it’s healthy food. Great alternative to other options in town. There’s an outdoor back patio and great spot for meetings.

Nice atmosphere, ok food

Menu was short of many options due to supply chain issues affecting everyone, so our options were limited. Soup of the day was very wholesome. Burger was well seasoned but mushy (think Dr Praegers).

The space is beautiful and brightly lit. If i lived close by, it could easily be my coffee spot.

This place’s biggest issue is that nothing really stands out on the menu, and Sweet Soulfood is a stone’s throw away.

Pros: All vegetarian, Outdoor seating, Hip atmosphere

Cons: Food is decent but not memorable, Brunch relies heavily on eggs

Excellent food

Casual restaurant with excellent food and good ambiance. We went for lunch and had the Lamara burger and the seasonal soup, similar to Minestrone. The soup was delicious.
