Sadly not as good as it was

We loved LPD when we went to the first location 3 years ago (gave it a 4 star glowing review on Happy Cow) but when we tried the newer location last night we were very disappointed to see there were now less vegan items than before and the menu still had a confusing and incorrect labeling of what was vegan vs vegetarian, for example sweet potato fries are marked 'vegetarian' because they are crossed contaminated with meat items (i.e. very much not vegetarian, mark them vegan with asterisk they are cooked in a shared fryer or even better don't cross contaminate!)

Instead of ordering one of the two vegan items on the menu, I decided to customize their lettuce wraps which used to have a tofu option but now it's just offered with a meat filling (but marked V for vegan on the printed menu!??) The flavor was still good and the portion generous, but they are so messy to eat with sauce dripping down my hand as I eat them and oddly they were served with a side of the same ginger/chili/sesame dressing despite there being plenty of it on the filling in the wraps.

My plant-based partner ordered the veggie burger without the vegan cheese, the brioche bun it comes on isn't vegan and the very nice cashier who had been checking on ingredients we had questions about, wasn't sure if the GF bun was vegan or not and said they'd find out. The burger came out between two giant lettuce leaves so we presumed it wasn't. But then the very nice manager stopped by to ask how everything was and when we gave a weak reply she asked for honest feedback we told her about the reduced vegan options and the confusion about the bun. She said the GF bun was definitely vegan which was good to know but disappointing because at this point it was too late. We also got a side of Brussel Sprouts which are not offered as a side on the menu but the cashier suggested it and they were delicious.

I am only giving 2 stars because it really was a disappointing vegan experience, the vegetable burger, a mixed-veggie patty- was not great, it's not house-made and tastes like a Dr. Praeger burger but we were told they buy them from another local establishment who does make them in house. This place is close to where we stay when in Naples so based on how earnest the manager was on taking in honest feedback, I would give LPD another try someday.

Vegan and veg options marked on menu

Several vegan options are marked on the menu. Service is great, staff are friendly and answered all our questions. I had the black bean burger and fries. Burger has a nice amount of spice and their in-store menu said the bun is vegan. The fries are vegan but are fried in the same oil as meat is, there are other sides. My wife enjoyed the tahini veggie bowl, she ate half and took the rest home. We’ll go back and try the other vegan bowls soon. Their is a bar but I didn't check it out. This is a sister restaurant to the one on 7th ave. in Naples.

Pros: vegan and veg options marked, spicy black bean burger, outdoor seating

Cons: can smell kitchen in the bathroom area
