Serves meat, vegan options available. Indonesian restaurant in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood. No menu labels, but staff are vegan aware and can advise on options. Confirmed vegan choices like nasi padang vegetarian, tempe mendoan, and bala-bala. Vegans can also order the nasi rames, but ask for it without the egg. Open Mon-Fri 12:00-14:30, 17:30-21:30, Sat-Sun 12:00-21:30.

I don't understand the good reviews - Edit
I was told that everything on the vegetarian/vegan menu was vegan if you order it without the egg. I went for Nasi Goreng and tempeh as a starter. My non-vegan friend ordered soup. Everything i had was bland and uninteresting. Super oily but no flavour. Left half of the rice on the plate. My friend also said that her soup wasn't good and she left most of it. Definitely not coming back here. However, the restaurant was fully booked when we went (Friday evening) so apparently other people like the food here?

Nasi Padang Veg - Edit
I ordered a Nasi Padang vegetarian without egg. It is very tasty. The jack fruit is very well prepared. The food comes wrapped in a banana leaf. The seasoning is very special.

Really good Indonesian food - Edit
It was the second time that I ate at Koempul and I think it is the best Indonesian restaurant of Berlin. I really love tempe, the deep fried tempeh (starter) is delicious, also the sauce.
Read moreI had a nasi rames (white rice, with fried tofu, stir fried vegetables, a deep fried mais cookie, deep fried onion and a cold batch (no idea what it's called).
With the nasi rames I have to ask to skip the fried egg. When I asked what the batter consisted of in which the tempe and mais were deep fried in, the waitress told me: no egg, all vegan friendly.

Pros: Good service, They ask how spicy (sharp) you want the food, Not really expensive
Cons: They should label vegan dishes clear
