Der Katzentempel in Freiburg bietet eine rundum stimmige, rein pflanzliche Küche in gemütlicher, katzenfreundlicher Atmosphäre. Die Bowls überzeugen mit frischem Gemüse, Crunch von Nüssen/Sesam und sehr guten Dressings; auch das Crostini-/Aufstrich-Trio ist ein toller Start. Portionen sind großzügig, die Komponenten wirken hausgemacht und gut abgeschmeckt. Service herzlich und aufmerksam, Wartezeiten kurz. Ideal für einen entspannten Lunch oder Kaffee-und-kostet-alles-vegane Besuch – klare Empfehlung.

The food was ok, not too special. The burgers were almost cold and very pricy. We order a small bottle of water and they brought us a glass of water instead (priced more than 4€). The service was the worst part, we had to wait one hour before someone got our order even if the place was not full of people. 15 minutes later the waiter came back because he lost our order. Basically 2 hours for eating average burgers.

Außergewöhnliches Café mit tollem Angebot 🐈 - Edit
Wie der Name bereits sagt, handelt es sich hier um ein Café/Restaurant, in dem man sich den Raum mit Katzen teilt 🥰 Die Katzen leben hier und sind natürlich wunderschön und süß. Das ist toll und direkt eine wohnliche Atmosphäre. Die Katzen sind ganz lieb und haben ein richtiges Paradies dort. In dem Café gibt es eine rein pflanzliche Karte, die von Frühstück, über Kaffee und Kuchen bis hin zu warmen Gerichten alles beinhaltet. Auch finde ich das Angebot sehr besonders, weil es nicht nur das 0815-Menü ist, sondern teilweise wirklich mal was anderes. Die Gerichte (wir hatten Desserts) waren wunderschön angerichtet und haben alle super geschmeckt. Preislich im mittleren Bereich. Es gibt über zwei Etagen Tische innen und auch einige Tische draußen (da sind halt die Katzen nicht). Man kann bar oder mit Karte zahlen. Ich komme gerne wieder! 😻

We actually ate twice here during our stay in Freiburg. The burgers are delicious, and the portions are so generous! We couldn't finish ours, which is a shame as we'd been on a road trip and decent vegan options have been scarce. 😂

Ihr bietet pflanzliches Essen an – aber gleichzeitig haltet ihr Tiere als Deko, als Unterhaltung, als Teil eures Geschäftskonzepts. Das ist nicht vegan, das ist speziesistischer Zirkus im Kuschelformat.
Und als wäre das nicht schon widerlich genug:
Ihr ernährt sie nicht einmal vegan. Es gibt veganes Katzenfutter.
Ihr nennt euch „veganes Café“ – aber lasst Tierleichenfleisch und Tierprodukte in die Körper derer füllen, die ihr zur Belustigung eurer Flexitarier Gäste stellt. Damit beteiligt ihr euch doppelt an Ausbeutung: einmal durch Zurschaustellung, einmal durch Mitfinanzierung der Tierindustrie.
Katzen zu halten, damit Menschen in eurer Gastronomie „entspannen“, ist keine Tierliebe, sondern speziesistische ungerechte Nutzung.
Das ist Tierausbeutung.
Ein wirklich veganer Ort wäre einer, an dem Tiere nicht verfügbar gemacht werden, nicht instrumentalisiert, nicht zum Erlebnis degradiert werden.
Ihr schafft ein Wohlfühlbild – aber für die Tiere ist das ein Leben im Dauerausstellungsmodus.
Wer Veganismus ernst meint, nutzt keine Tiere – auch nicht „lieb gemeint“.

Mein Mann und ich waren zum ersten Mal hier und es hat uns wirklich sehr gut gefallen, dass wir nicht streng auf die Zutaten schauen mussten, um eventuelle tierische Produkte zu vermeiden, da in diesem Restaurant alles vegan ist. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich und es gibt etwas für jeden Geschmack. Unsere Bowls haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt, waren super frisch und liebevoll angerichtet und wir werden mit Sicherheit wieder hier essen. Die Einrichtung und Deko sind sehr dezent gehalten. Katzen haben wir erst beim Hinausgehen gesehen, was aber völlig ok ist.

No cats upstairs to be seen, but it was a bit loud due to some giggly guests when we got there. It quiet down later, but maybe we'll have to reserve a table downstairs next time. The food was delicious -- really hit the spot. I had the "burger del gatto" which had a beyond burger featured their "miauzzerella", yummy basil pesto, tomatoes, and avocado. My partner had a pumpkin goulash with knödel, which was reportedly also excellent. Highly recommended if you're in Freiburg!

From a cat cafe franchise, which I’ve heard about but never visited before in any German city, I expected an overpriced, overly greasy fast food. I was pleasantly surprised! Besides breakfasts. burgers and sandwiches (which all looked appetising!) there was variety of other foods, such as bowls, goulash or even knedles. We settled for two bowls and they were both very tasty and felt on the healthier side.

I wasn’t too focused on hanging out with cats, as I know from other cat cafe-like places it’s often hard to “connect” with them, especially on a busy day and one shouldn’t bother them too much. I still enjoyed the view of few kitties while eating and felt some funny sense of unity with other clients. Everyone was there because cats are cool.

I recently stayed in Freiburg for business and ordered three items from Katzentempel for delivery. I had the Banh Miau Sandwich, the Happy Piggy Burger and the Tempelsandwich. All three were very good. Quantity was OK. This place seemed to be one of the only all-vegan restaurants in the area, so it is a good choice for delivery if you are in Freiburg and limited with time and mobility.
