Family business - Edit
For 2.5 dollars I had probably the most expensive course of the menu that was spaghetti with egg, fake meat and vegetables. Not a big portion but good taste. The restaurant is simple and the owners are nice. They give you free tea.

Cheap, but slightly dissapointed - Edit
Since this restaurant closes randomly, the first time I came here around 2pm I was sent away.
Read moreCame back the next day around 1230. The staff didn't seem to enjoy being there. The menu doesn't have clearly labelled vegan options.
I did enjoy the food, certainly for the price. I had some fried noodles, 'chicken' drumsticks and fried spring rolls.

Cheap and authentic - Edit
So cheap but quality local food and really authentic setting. Our bill came to $6 for x1 starter, x2 mains and x2 drinks which is crazy. The fried mushroom is the best! #Veganuary

Chinese soup is love - Edit
If you are fan of Chinese soups this is the place to go. The restaurant is simple as it could possibly get.
Read moreThey have all the dishes with fake meat which was really tasty.
It's probably the cheapest vegan place you can visit in Siem Reap.
Part of the restaurant is a shop with sauces and dry vegan meat, so you can buy yourself a little souvenir.
Pros: cheap, tasty, authentic
Cons: location

Tasty and cheap - Edit
We were a bit nervous about going given that others have found it closed when it was supposed to be open or had been turned away but thankfully we found it open and all was well. There was just an older lady there and she seemed to call for back up when we arrived, as English speaking younger staff came and gave us English menus (maybe the older lady is a bit nervous about serving foreigners?) We got some noodle soups with all kinds of mock meats and dumplings etc, tasty although benefited from seasoning/condiments provided. It was very cheap

This is a family run restaurant in their own house. They open and close when they wish and their main customer base are locals. This of course makes visiting a ‘risk’ but the food is good and the all veggie family are lovely. If you’re not willing to head there and find them closed, or not able to cook food for you, then probably best to head to one of the tourist facing restaurants in the centre of town.
Read more***UPDATE*** The new location is slightly out of town and the menu is more or less the same. They do have some pictures now which makes it easier to identify the dishes. The new location is more modern and much cleaner which is a plus too.
Decent budget option in Siem Reap with tasty veggie food and plenty of vegan options.

Finaly found the Kang Le. I shall provide the proper location. Please change! Plaese remove the photos, their from the previous location! Very confusing! I'll also upload part of the new menu.
Read moreWhen entering the shop an old woman came towards me. She directly started a phonecall since she seemed to be alone. After a while she made clear there was no cook/food to come.
Happily Cheerful is quite near so went there. After all it was a useless exercise. Excrpt for future visitors. this is the proper location: when entering 6A from HW6 it is RIGHT handside, after 20m. First building in the block. Notice the red chinese lampoons.
To all: be EXACT when providing location. It causes a lot of unnecessary troubles when you are ignorant about this!
How come the latest (mine) review is not placed on top???

Very disappointed - Edit
Reading the good comments, my best friend and I decided to eat there. The first time (yesterday night) we arrived 1 hour before closing time, a lady crossed her arms saying CLOSE CLOSE! It was definitely not a polite way of telling us. We didn’t want to leave with that bad experience so we arrived around 1pm, a lady told us to sit down then called someone and then told us to leave… if your restaurant is not open at lunch time just close the door…

Cheap and Delicious - Edit
We decided to try this place because it was a two minute walk from our guesthouse. We got the fried mushrooms, chicken drumsticks, chicken fried rice, and the noodle dumpling soup. The entire meal was just over $5. Smallish to normal portions. Good flavors. Friendly owner. I’ll definitely be back!

Went twice and loved it both times. The soy chicken tastes good and the fried rice corn was one of the best fried rice i ever had! Next to the good meals, the price is cheap. Had two dishes for less than $3 together!

Cheap and good - Edit
We tried Pak Lov, it's rice with some veggies and mock meats. Mock meat is amazing! This dish was really good. We tried dumpling noodles, not really tasty cause it's a soup but if you add pepper and chilli it's better. Ask without coriander if you don't like it cause it really tastes coriander.

Very cheap & basic, but we enjoyed - Edit
We had doubts about finding this place after seeing the previous review but it was no problem at all. The Happy Cow marker and Google Maps marker were both spot on. Maybe the previous guy lucked out and the restaurant was closed that day.
Read moreI expected the fried mushrooms to be a crispy battered type thing but actually they were sautéed mushrooms. Small portion but the mushrooms were “meaty” and tasty.
We kinda had to laugh at the chicken drumstick meal, as it only had one tiny drumstick on the plate. Along with rice, sauce, salad, and more fried mushrooms. But still quite tasty. They asked if we wanted it with egg or without.
The basil fried rice was not very good, it came out cold and the rice was clumpy.
Fried meatballs had a rubbery texture that some may not get into, but we liked them.
The clear favourite though was the dumpling noodles which was a large bowl and delicious! Clear broth and a good mix of veggies, faux meat, tofu and dumplings. The dumplings themselves were a bit undercooked but apart from that the dish was really good, for only US$1.75.
Pros: yummy dumpling noodles, cheap & non-touristy place, nice staff
Cons: some dishes are a small portion, cold & clumpy fried rice

Where is it? - Edit
I literally walked around for an hour looking for this place, asking locals and triple checking the maps and the written direction. It is so weird that it has so many ratings, how did anyone find it? Local people had no idea where it was and i had several tuk tuk drivers search their phones for it.

Nice local spot - Edit
Nice local spot with some decent mock meat dishes. Affordable and tasty. There is also a banh mi that is not on the menu. We saw someone order one and asked if we could have one too and they made it for us. Each time we went back we had to show them a photo of the banh mi and they made it for us each time. They don’t speak any English so without the photo it’s difficult to communicate.
