Just Call Me One Of The Village People - Edit
“Too much” was the refrain from the waiter as I reeled off my extensive order. Not that I can blame them, by any sane measure, it was far too excessive. However, fuelled by a compulsion to sample as much as possible (and perhaps a beer, or two) rationality was off the table and it was time to feast.
Read moreA simple, yet classic amuse-bouche in the form of a pair of popadoms made for a nice sedate way to begin proceedings. Never were they going to set my world alight, but they did their job perfectly.
With the arrival of the real starters, the meal really got going. All three - the pakoras, the onion bhajis and the samosas - were fine examples of their ilk, each giving exactly what was expected of them - and perhaps a touch more.
With playtime out the way, it was truly time to showcase my powers of ingurgitation and really impress/horrify the staff.
Given the precedent set by all that had come before, the main dishes - along with their almost requisite bread accompaniments - had no trouble in surpassing the benchmark.
No slight intended on what was a very good chana masala, but the tofu sabji korma and aloo mutter were quite exceptional. The first: creamy and elegant. The second: bold and chunky. Both very different in makeup, but remarkably similar in superb standard.
Only enhancing these dishes further were the roti and bhature - the former was ideal for scooping up is saucy companions, while the latter was heavenly enough to be savoured on its own.
Not the cheapest Indian meal that I’ve had, but I would say that it just about justified its price tag through a combination of quality cooking and ample portions.

Filling and delicious! - Edit
Each table got a free appetizer of peppered crisps and dips, which we were told were all vegan, a lovely surprise! The chana masala was brought alongside rice, and it was spectacular! My husband got the tofu sabji korma with rice, which he enjoyed

Cons: Wish things were more reliably labeled vegan
