Vietnamese/Thai Restaurant Offering Vegetarian/Vegan Options - Edit
We walked by Hello Saigon yesterday when we went to a nearby vegan "junk food" restaurant for lunch. Today, we were headed back to that restaurant again; however, it was closed on a Sunday. Seeing that Hello Saigon was open, and noting that the displayed menu offered a number of vegetarian and vegan dishes, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is very spacious, well-lit, finely decorated and clean. After choosing a table, we began ordering. The restaurant's menu offers a good number of alcoholic (beer and hard-liquor) and non-alcoholic drinks; we started with a couple of Vietnamese beers. The menu offers a section of starters (entradas) that are strictly veg/vegan. However, we decided to share a "Saigon Special" of their vegan (sushi) roll. The roll of 8 pieces came with a nice dollop of wasabi (mild) and pickled ginger; the filling included avocado, cucumber, mango, pickled radish (or daikon). All together it was an auspicious start! For our mains, I went with the vegan ramen with tofu and vegetables (served with a nice portion of spicy oil); my better-half went with the vegan tofu poké bowl--you choose up to four of eight additional toppings (he went with avocado, edamame, red onion and wakame). He said his tofu poké bowl was excellent--tofu fried lightly with a nice soft center. My (non-egg) ramen noodles were wonderful; lightly fried tofu and vegetables, including fresh baby bok-choy, was wonderful! I especially enjoyed having the spicy sesame/pepper oil, which I could add as much or little as I wanted. The bill was amazing--Lisbon is so cheap compared to the States! The bottom line: We were extremely happy with this new Vietnamese/Thai/Japanese restaurant find! :D
