Limited vegan options, but a filling sandwich - Edit
The display was well stocked, but there was only one vegan sandwich available. When I asked, the staff simply pointed at it and didn’t seem very friendly, rather a bit uninterested.
Read moreThe sandwich itself was good, but very generously filled, which made it a bit tricky to eat — there was even a whole quarter of an avocado inside ;-).
Still, it’s great to be able to get a vegan sandwich on the go. It was very filling and definitely did the job.

Great smoothie bowl - Edit
Had the best smoothie bowl there although on the expensive side ($20). Tried the vegan paleo cake which was pretty good too and a fresh juice. Quite a few vegan options including desserts. Only shame that they had no sandwiches ready for take out at 730am (I wanted to take one for lunch at work).
Read morePros: Lots of vegan options, Best smoothie bowl., Organic
Cons: No takeaway lunches available early, On the Expensive side

Great cafe, healthy food - Edit
This cafe is located inside the Chantal's Organics store.
Read moreOrdered coffee, a plant-based smoothie bowl and a vegan sandwich and despite it looking quite busy, we didn't have to wait long.
The coffee was great, although I was disappointed to have to pay extra for oat milk.
The vegan sandwich was very tasty and the smoothie bowl was very large and quite good.
I visited about 10am on a Saturday.
Pros: Smoothie bowl was very good value., Lots of vegan options.
Cons: Paying extra for oat milk.

Extremely disappointing - Edit
Arrived at 2pm to be told the kitchen is closed. When we asked what time does the kitchen close for future visits, the staff shared, 'It depends on the day' the cabinet food is our priority'. When I pushed further she said 'come before lunch'.
Read moreVery disappointing. Wouldn't bother coming back with that lack of care for customers.
Pros: The opportunity of choosing something off the menu, Unable to eat there so nothing, Unable to order so nothing
Cons: Not being able to choose something off the menu, The inability for staff to share when it closes, Lack of care or concern from staff

A lot of vegan options - Edit
Hapi Cafe is within Chantal Organic store. I was surprised by how many vegan options there are: sandwiches, baked goods, cakes, etc. Vegan food is very prominent in the counter.

The salted caramel sundae is to die for - Edit
I had the vegan sandwich, and it was tasty and filling, but messy to eat, they just put a half avo on there, and there's so much filling, but worth it! The salted caramel sundae omg it was amazing, do yourself a favour and go for this! The coconut soft serve with sauce and lil bits of a caramel slice, so good!

Wonderful to eat and shop - Edit
I just got in to Napier last night, and was keen to find a place to get a vegan lunch. This place is perfect. I ordered a seitan sandwich and miso soup. Delicious.

Amazing find. Plenty of seats, friendly staff and delicious vegan food. I had the vegan Sami with tempeh, avocado, grated carrot and cashew cheese on the most amazing seedy bread. Tickled all my tastebuds.

Amazing ^__^ - Edit
I was very awkwardly looking at everything because they have sooo many great looking vegan options and the staff kindly guided me into deciding on food – I ended up having a taco and a sniggers ($17 total) that were both 10/10!!! The portion sizes were very reasonable for the price and I will totally be returning soon to try more 🫂

Okay, but not great - Edit
I love their drinks however not so many options. And it’s not a health cafe. More meat options than vegan, and having someone eating chicken drumsticks next to you when you drink your chai latte is not the best.

loved their ice cream - Edit
We ate at their cafe and it was very crowded but you could see why. Their food is incredible - they really focus on flavour and taste and everything we had was wonderful. Loved the ice cream the best because I love ice cream and it is not easy to get vegan soft serve.
Read moreUpdate 2021- the cafe has moved and is now in the Chantal store so there is a lot more seating now which is great. Maybe their amazing chef has gone too though. The food was fine but not as amazing as I remembered. Not the same level of flavours and textures that wowed me last time and fewer interesting options. We had a salad with bean sprouts but couldn't finish it as it was just like eating a punnet of straight bean sprouts. We had some other items that were ok. The tempeh sandwich was pretty good and the ice cream was as great as I remembered. But overall Hapi seems to have lost the wow factor for me.

Happy however you spell it - Edit
I arrived later in the day, tired from a day of driving and half of the menu had already been eaten by their customers BUT, they team were so helpful with what was on offer and patient with me trying to make a decision. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This along with the helpful team makes it an surefire thing that I will be recommending Hapi to all my friends

A Great Breakfast.... - Edit
The breakfast we had here was great quality. Spicy scrambled tofu on tasty in-house baked bread with creamy mushrooms & avo. Not cheap but quality shouldn't be anyway. Great coffee too.The cafe is dairy-free but more suited to paleo than vegan. Still some great options here to explore. Dining in should be using re-useable plates/cup/utensils though - save the landfills!

Cons: Disposable/single use tableware is so wasteful!, Very limited seating - More suited for take-away e
