Disappointing

While it's very nice that this place is willing to make many dishes with tofu on request, I found the food to be not very tasty. The vegan egg rolls were greasy and without much filling. The vegan dim sum were made with a dough that was much too thick. And the stir-fried vegetables had a sauce that seemed to have MSG.

Israel's lone authentic Kosher Chinese

There are kosher Chinese restaurants in almost every city in Israel. Unfortunately, what passes for Chinese food is generally something "Asian-ish", of poor quality, cooked by migrant workers with little-to-no culinary experience who can pass as Chinese and wear Asian attire.

Homa Sinit (the wall of China)is the exception to the rule, as it actually has Chinese ownership and employees who have brought to Israel the authentic tastes of their homeland and you see it on the menu and taste it in every bite.

Amongst its merits, this is the only restaurant in Israel where you can get Chow fun. It is called Lu Mian (hand noodles) and you have to ask them for the square kind (Re-bu-ah in Hebrew, or show them a square with your hands)to actually get chow fun. The regular chow fun comes in a brown sauce which is simple and delicious and like almost all of the meat dishes you can have tofu substituted (or ask for a different sauce).

Amongst our other favorites here are the tofu Szechuan (which is spicy and comes out sizzling) and the Tofu Gon Bon (a light peanut sauce). For appetizers I recommend the authentic Baoze (steamed dumplings) over the egg rolls which are good, but you can get the anywhere.

As a New Yorker who spent every other weekend of my childhood making trips to Chinatown,I find Homa Sinit to be the only place in Israel which can even somewhat soothe my cravings for real vege Chinese. While this place is unpretentious and lacks a more or unique romantic atmosphere, the prices are very good and the food is real authentic Chinese and reeeal good!

Pros: Authentic and versatile for vegetarians, Quick, cheap and Delicious, Certified Kosher

Cons: Lacks atmosphere

Great food! but it lacks the atmosphere

The food is excellent! spicy just the way I like it.
but the place feels like a dining room of a kibbuts.
the first thing you notice is that if you remove a few ornaments from the wall it looks like a dining room of a school or something.
We were not offered chopsticks and instead of the traditional fork and spoon such restaurants always serve we actually got a knife!
It was surprising.

The place is great for a cheap tasty chinese meal but I won't recommend bringing a date there.

Pros: excellent food, good value

Cons: the place looks cheap, not very traditional
