Lovely little place - Edit
The staff were so lovely and they had a cake of the day that was vegan - other cakes were vegetarian. Hot drinks were lovely. Enjoyed a nice rest here after exploring all day.

Charming little Escape - Edit
I absolutely loved this little café and guesthouse! The atmosphere is wonderfully calm and relaxing, making it the perfect place to take a break. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made me feel right at home.
Read moreOne detail I especially enjoyed was that you take off your shoes before entering — something very typical in Japan, and it made the experience feel extra cozy and authentic. There’s also a charming small Japanese garden that adds to the peaceful setting.
I had a latte macchiato with oat milk (they offer several vegan milk alternatives for just a 50 yen surcharge) and a delicious pie made with seasonal fruit. I’m not sure if the pie was fully vegan, but since I only need to avoid dairy, it was absolutely perfect for me.
Overall, I’m totally satisfied and definitely plan to return — next time I’d love to stay overnight in the guesthouse as well!

A lovely place - Edit
Two years ago my wife and I visited Shiora-san's place. Her coffee was excellent. The traditional house was quite cosy. We enjoyed her company and that of her husband, both very nice people. We'll return when we are in Takayama a next time.
