Well, I don't know

My husband and I came here for a post Valentine's day meal. I don't often consider new (to us) restaurants that aren't fully vegan but I love Chinese food and was encouraged by Mina's interesting photos. The building is non-descript, you can see some red glow from behind the curtains but not much else. You arrive in a small plain vestibule which allows the step into the red room to be very impactful.

The menus are newspaper-style with each column being a different dish - this looks unique but I found it really hard to organize my thoughts and keep track of what I wanted. Disappointing the tasting menu can't be made vegan but quite a lot of the a la carte menu can. Everything is clearly marked. We ordered an assortment of dishes and the service was fairly quick.

I will write my individual dish comments in their respective photos but overall I found the food to be quite good for the most part (one dish I did not like at all, one was meh) but suffered a lot from being unbalanced. Example no dipping sauce to freshen the heavy, fried item. A tiny scoop of mixed rice in a very wet and sloppy dish. No white rice served alongside the meal, especially with the saltiest dish. I was really thirsty at some points! It felt quite strange. Also strange that it came out in courses and not family style. It still would have cried for plain rice but family style would have helped tremendously with balance.

The decor is ok, I think for this style the quality of decor should be a bit higher otherwise it comes off a little cheap. One thing I found amusing is that the ladies is absolutely covered in pro-women/anti crappy men graffiti. I thought that while it didn't look very nice (what I mean is- let an artist do it, or many different women, so it is more authentic - versus clearly just the same person writing everything over and over). It's a very safe feeling to be in a place that allows this. Hard to explain! Even more amusing, I asked my husband what the men's room was like, thinking there would be something as well, and he said there was Nothing. LOL. Waitress was nice enough but was not very proactive in offering new drinks, dessert etc.

Another thing to note is it was very stuffy/bad air in there. Would give a 2.5 rating. 2 seemed too harsh so I'll stick with 3. The tea, salad, mushrooms and aubergine were worth having. Overall it was an ok experience, glad we tried it, wouldn't return.
