Granville Market is worth a visit. Some vegan options I noticed include the vegan Vietnamese stall, Chau VeggiExpress, baked goods at Laurelle’s and Stuart's, Beyond brat at Kaisereck Deli, and Hobbs Pickles. If you live in Canada or will be staying a while, the produce is beautiful. There are also gift stores with vegan and ethical products. #Veganuary
I loved all the produce stands. One of my favourite parts of it was ripe produces we could choose from that were discounted. I was happy the help reduce food waste. The produces looked great. For B.C. the produces' prices were better than at grocery stores. WOuld have loved to have more plastic-free options. There were not many options for vegan restaurants, unfortunately.
Definitely on the to-do list if visiting Vancouver, but not as many vegan options as I would have hoped. I do remember eating an entire focaccia bread though. It was mint.
The peanut butter brownie from Laurelle’s Fine Food was the best I ever had! I also had vegan pierogies from the German sausage place in the food court which were little balls of heaven :); my first time trying pierogies! I also had split pea soup from The Stock Market which was pretty good.
I love Granville island and its market! You can choose among many delicious vegan meals and snacks. Ok, the choice is limited but good enough to satisfy your cravings. I went several times and always bought food from different stalls. Chau veggie express has many vegan options, their salad rolls, bowls and soups are delicious. Terra bread had amazing bakery products, French fries (sold in several places) are good too. Laurelle’s Fine Foods has very good tofu wraps and mouthwatering vegan brownies! Plus other vegan options (and very many for vegetarians). You can buy vegan sushi of course, and vegan Chinese food like rice with veggies and tofu, noodles with veggies and tofu. You’ll find scrumptious and beautiful fruit (including tropical fruit you don’t find in other places) and juices. It’s a great place to experience Vancouver and taste a fantastic vegan meal surrounded by the ocean, seagulls and local artists!
Laurelle's fine foods for good baked options - Edit
A few lovely bakery goods at Laurelle's fine foods in an otherwise non-vegan market. They have lots of salads and things too, but I focused on the sweet stuff!!
The Granville Market is a must-visit if you're passing through Vancouver, or even a local who hasn't frequented it in a while. Summer and Fall is, in my opinion, the best times to go, as you can sit outside on the docks and wander around the 'island'. Mind you, the market gets pretty packed in hotter months. I strongly suggest taking the Aqua Bus, as parking can be a bit of a nightmare. Once you're in the market, swing by Laurelle's Fine Foods, as there are a number of vegan and vegetarian options. The tofu roll is one of my favourites - simply cannot visit without grabbing one of these bad boys, and they have this chocolate vegan cookie with electric pink icing as a regular item (not great if you're on a diet!). They have some rotating seasonal dishes too, so you may see something new from time to time, depending on the time of year.
I love farmers markets and what could be better than a huge farmers market beside the ocean right? This place made me anxious. It was insane busy and you could barely move. I understand that when we went it was summer and their are other tourists like ourselves, but I had a hard time finding a reason to want to come back here. I'm sure their were interesting vendors and food options but I'll never know sadly. By the time you find a parking spot you'll wonder why you came.
Lots of fresh produce - some vegan options! - Edit
I went to this farmers market 8/6/16 whilst on holiday as it sounded like it was worth a visit. On the whole, if you live in Vancouver it's probably worth a visit and is even if on holiday, however due to its location it can be a bit tricky.
There's lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, whilst there are also a few places to grab some cooked/baked goods. There's a place called 'chau's express' which I believe is vegetarian with many vegan options whilst 'laurellesfinefoods' sells baked goods of which a few are vegan, which I will show via photo.
Overall, it's worth a visit and nice to have a look around!
