Beautiful atmosphere and food - Edit
We love going to Gracias any time - for a date night, casual meet up with friends, brunch with family, any time is good. Might want to make reservations because they are usually busy, but I am happy to see the place fill of people enjoying the amazing food. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful, and everything is delicious. I've had. most of the menu and loved everything especially the brunch specials and the cashew crema.

They can do a lot better - Edit
The food is just ok...and the menu never changes...as one of the only 100% vegan restaurants, I expected more...how about adding some flavor? The West Hollywood location is so much better.

Average - Edit
I ordered delivery from here. I ordered the bowl uno, which was good but not great. It was spicy but seemed to lack actual flavour. The flavours of all the ingredients also seemed to clash with each other. I was really excited to order from here but unfortunately it just didn’t meet my expectations.

Super Yummy! - Edit
We ordered the nachos, gordita, all 3 tacos on happy hour menu, sweet potato flautas and peach cobbler. The nachos were insanely good - the chips were freshly made. Out of the 3 happy hour tacos - the mushroom was the best. The sweet potato flautas were ok and the peach cobbler was pretty good but the ice cream was very crumbly/icy. I’d give it a 3.5-4

Great Concept - Edit
Went here for lunch and was a little disappointed. Food was good but not great. Very fresh but the seasoning was unremarkable. Salsa verde is good but very mild. Smoothie was tasty but would have been better chilled. Overall it’s overpriced.

incredibly delicious - Edit
This was hands down the best Mexican meal we've had. Six of us enjoyed 1 tamale, 1 enchiladas, 2 taquito specials, and 2 tacos. This really was an incredible meal, no fake meat, no fake cheese. Thank you

Horrible service - Edit
I was thrilled to be in San Francisco to come to this restaurant. I was very disappointed!!!!!Not worth the visit, service and prices. Let me start with the food. I m of Mexican descent and this is not authentic Mexican food. The food portions are small for the price you pay. The soyrizo is very spicy caused indigestion ... the gorditas are not real gorditas! the service is horrible. It is very sad our race is lazy and rude. The hostess was horrible. He Did not greet us, felt like we were a bother to sit us down. I had to flag the waitress to take down our order. The waitress did not deserve a single penny for tip..she never came to asked how we were doing. She asked the other lady on the next table if they like their tacos.. not us.. I tell you, our race is lazy and rude...sad! Lastly, this restaurant is in the bad side of town. Lots of homeless, sidewalks smell like urine and marijuana. First and last time!!!!

Avoid the brown chocolaty sauce! - Edit
It was probably only our bad luck, but we ordered two dishes that both came with the same brown chocolaty sauce (negra something), and I must admit that because of that we could not eat the meals, it tasted so bad. The guacomole we had was also disappointing, it was pure avocado, no other ingredients, except some cilantro. The staff was not very friendly either. It was only the homemade tortilla chips that were good. All in all, I’m sorry, but I cannot recommend this place.

enchiladas not the best - Edit
I first tried out this restaurant in LA it was much nicer there and the food seem to taste a bit better that time around. The enchiladas had a weird taste here I couldn't put my finger on it but I'll def come back though probably not for the enchiladas.

Incredibly good vegan food! (But very loud) - Edit
The food at Gracias Madre is some of the best in San Francisco. If it weren't so loud (and it is really loud) I would go here all of the time.

Not the WeHo experience - Edit
I came here with my wife expecting the fancy vibe of The West Hollywood location. Yeah...not so much.
Read moreWe went in the evening and the area was pretty sketchy. We made reservations and were told that ALL the seating is communal. I know I’m WeHo there are a couple of communal tables but we expected a little more privacy for our anniversary. Our table companions were fine though so we got over that pretty quickly.
Monica ordered a sangria which we are both used to being chilled. This was not so it went to waste.
When it came to the food, it was as good if not better than what we expect from the WeHo location. We ordered posole which is our favorite back home. It was made differently but we found the broth to be even more flavorful. The rest of the meal including dessert was very good. The dishes are pricey just like at home, but I don’t mind it as much for the ambience you get at our home location. This was a little disappointing, but since it was our anniversary, we brushed it off.
Pros: Flavorful dishes
Cons: Seating, Location (at night)

Scrumptious vegan food, great brunch options - Edit
100% vegan, organic, and farm fresh. They have some of the best vegan brunch options in SF - the chimichanga and plantain french toast are especially yummy. Dinners especially can get very busy, so it's a good idea to make a reservation.

Expensive but worth it - Edit
Gracias Madre is located in Mission street, a vibrating area of San Francisco. As mentioned, the restaurant is a bit pricey but totally worth it. Food is delicious, wide menu and good wine menu. Cozy environment. I will definitely go back on my next visit to the city.

Very Friendly - Edit
Very friendly atmosphere. Not too busy during lunch. I had the chorizo tempeh torta. Seemed very authentic Mexican cuisine to my naive pallet, maybe because of the spiciness and beans. Look forward to going back trying other diahes, although the lunch menu only has about 12 main dishes on it.

different menu - Edit
I go to the location in West Hollywood all the time and I adore it. Here on the other hand the menu was different and not nearly as many options. I kind of struggled with what to get and had to settle on something I ended up hating. I love the coliflour con frito appetizer but it kills me that it's as much as an entree and isn't big by any means. I'll stick to the West Hollywood location- way more options, better seating, and somehow better tasting food

"For dinner, make a reservation!" Thant's what locals told us and they were right, this place gets crowded. But it's soooo worth it! I wish I had left some space for dessert but oh well, next time!

bland food; non-ethical restaurant - Edit
As an ethical vegan, I always do my best to support vegan restaurants and give them preference even when the food is not the best.
Read moreI went back to Gracias Madre yesterday after a few years and was, again, disappointed by the food quality. Everything was tasteless and VERY pricey - from the guacamole to my husband's flautas.
After I learned that the owners are using the same farm to slaughter animals, there's no way I'm coming back.
(Two stars go for the server, who was great)

Best Mexican Food Ever! - Edit
Went here for my birthday earlier this year and it was amazing! Tons of variety, everything was super fresh and seasonal, and full of flavor. The non-veg family loved it and was super impressed. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the Bay Area, one of my all time fave vegan spots!
Read moreOnly drawbacks were that we did have to wait for a table, which I can't blame them for, and it was a little pricey, however completely worth the food, service, and ambience!
