Vegan heaven

My friends & I visited this restaurant yesterday and we were more than happy with the food. It tasted so delicious and for vegan food the prices are quite alright. The waitress was very sweet and recommended the fried cauliflower which was such a treat. We also had some main dishes and took dessert with us. We will gladly come again!

A small slice of vegan heaven

Gnou in Athens is a real gem for vegan food lovers. The restaurant is spotless and set in a lovely neighborhood, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are warm and genuinely friendly, making you feel welcome right away. The dishes are full of flavor and beautifully prepared, while the sweets are absolutely heavenly — worth the visit on their own. A perfect spot for a delicious and wholesome meal. Taste the chickpea omelets!

Pros: Small menu (each plate was carefully prepared), Daily menu over and above the catalogue

Yummy food, slow service

This place seemed overwhelmed with the amount of orders and people they were serving.
There was one person at the counter making drinks, one person in the kitchen cooking, and one person waiting and bussing tables. There are a lot of tables. They have tables inside, outside, and across the street. I sat inside and there were multiple times people came in asking about where their food was because it is hard to tell where you are in the priority.
Drinks come out before food, but the person making drinks is also taking counter orders and working the phone and dealing with the food delivery drivers so they were swamped. I couldn't tell if I was forgotten about or not.
Luckily I was not forgotten, I was just in a long queue.

I ordered a single Greek coffee, a creamy carrot drink, and the tofu scramble. After waiting long, even for European standards my coffee arrived. That made me worry less, but it came out with a receipt and it only had the coffee listed so I was concerned that the rest of my order was non-existent. I decided to wait until my coffee was done to ask. Luckily just as I finished the coffee the carrot juice arrived. And the same thing a receipt of just the carrot juice came with it. This made me realize that it probably is some policy that the restaurants have to do and not a full copy of the order. It helped me relax about my order too. I didn't know when my tofu would be ready, but I was able to be patient again.

Enough about the service, let's talk about the food:

The coffee was perfect! It was hot, but not burning my tongue. It was thick and creamy, not bitter like Italian espresso. It tasted and smelled amazing. I know it will give me energy for the entire day. Along with the coffee they brought out some like sweet nuggets. I have no idea what those are called, they are a hard crunchy sweet bread and they were really nice with the unsweetened coffee.

The carrot juice was really nice too. It definitely tasted like a garden in a glass and I loved that. It feels like I'm getting my vitamins and is exactly what I wanted. It mostly tastes like fresh carrots and celery blended together and I like that. They also put a couple of ice cubes in the glass to keep it cool.

The tofu scramble was tasty, but the portion was pretty little for the price. I guess I'm used to gorging myself. I enjoyed the flavors and was surprised by there being corn mixed in.

Overall a tasty place, but I like other restaurants better.

Pros: Delicious flavors, Friendly staff, Lots of tables

Cons: Very long wait even for Europe

Great Gnu

Found it after walking past a few times because the name is not written using the English alphabet. It's a very nicely styled interior with outdoor seating. We both had omelettes, mine with sausage, tomatoes & feta, hers with mushrooms & broccoli, but mine came with herby fries. They were amazingly tasty & filling. The coffee is really great, strong but not bitter. I also got a raisin pastry to go which was really good. Will go back again for breakfast.
So we went back 3 more times because this place is amazing, it hits all the points: Amazing food, great vibe, nice interior & lovely staff. I highly recommend making the trip here because there is so much love in the food, you can taste it. For me this was the best in Athens. We had breakfast here twice, lunch & dinner once & the food was incredible everytime. Our last night I had the cauliflower which was so damn tasty & my girlfriend had the spaghettoni which she adored. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu.

Gnou 📍 Kypseli 🐮

My best friend and I visited Gnou after university classes, it was the perfect lunch! We ordered the hummus with pita, chickpea omelet, "skioufichta" pasta & brownies for dessert. We shared all the plates, everything was delicious and fully vegan. If anyone is visiting Athens, Greece you should definitely add this restaurant to your list! 🫐

Great vegan place

Everything is vegan and it is really good! We had scrambled tofu and omelet and really nice juice, smoothie and kombucha. The restaurant is in a small square and the atmosphere is really relaxed. Very recommendable!

Healthy and innovative variety

I was delighted to come across this cafe, which has a diverse menu including chickpea pancakes and traditional Greek vegan dishes, like broad beans. There is also a nice variety of drinks, including a detox matcha latte with dandelion and nettle.

Pros: Variety including lots of healthy options, On a pleasant restaurant square
