Road Trip Destination off I-81 - Edit
I have been going to Glowbowl Cafe for several years as a lunch stop on road trips between DC and North Carolina. It is definitely worth the 10-min drive off the interstate into Lexington. Mostly vegan options, fantastic fresh-cooked food. Recommend the Buddha Bowl with tofu and Bombay Bowl, though there are many more dishes I’d like to try. Portions are generous.

Average food - Edit
The food was overall average. I
Read moreEnjoyed the mushroom empanadas and the taco salad. The ginger miso noodle bowl was disappointing. Nobody wanted to eat it. It tasted like way too much soy sauce and dirt. Maybe the ginger wasn’t peeled? The mushrooms seemed uncooked in the soup. They closed at 3 but only to go orders at 2:30 and they seemed to be locking the doors so may not stay open until the stated time. There was also a speed trap nearby so be careful driving there. I wouldn’t drive there again but would eat there if I was in the area.
Pros: Only vegan option around, Good empanada, Vegan Thai iced tea
Cons: Food not authentic, Food not cooked all the way , Closes early and speed traps

Outstanding vegan options in rural Virginia - Edit
The menu is mostly vegan, and everything is easily veganizable. Vegan protein options include tofu, tempeh, falafel, and chickpeas. Everything is homemade and clearly prepared with care. I ordered the Udon bowl and the portion was huge. I travel frequently in the Blue Ridge region of Virginia and it is not easy to find this kind of vegan quality, or diversity of options.

Need Better Hours otherwise A+ - Edit
They close at 3pm most days. Need later hours.
Read moreGreat food, vast menu selections, amazing staff. Limited tables inside. I wouldn't get the Buddha Bowl again - way too vinegary. Baja Bowl is good. Vegan empanadas are great.

Great food, cafe and service! - Edit
I stopped in here on my first day in Lexington and the friendly service only added to the delicious Buddha Bowl I ordered! Everything was fresh, and the atmosphere was cozy and upbeat! I ordered a salad to go, and grabbed a muffin, even though it wasn’t gluten-free because everything is prepared locally. You can taste the difference between homemade and processed, and this certainly fits the former. I’ll be back!

Easy, quick, tasty - Edit
Located in the center of Lexington. Lots of salads and bowls in various styles of global cuisine. Quick friendly service. Only a few minutes off I-81. Would definitely visit here again next time in town! Nearly all meals are vegan, a few are vegetarian. There are meat options as add-one to the vegan/veggie bases. There are a few tables for eating in.

Great little place - Edit
Order at the counter omnivore place, but the vegan options were delightful. I ordered the Buddha bowl (in the pic). My family ordered the zen bowls, also delicious! We had an empanada too, which was very tasty. The ambiance is a bit chaotic, and I dropped a star because they only use plastic, prewrapped in plastic, so you have to throw out every piece, even if you don’t use it. Everything is served in to go containers, but they appeared compostable.
Read morePros: Excellent food
Cons: Kind of pricey for a take-out place, Plastic wear not sustainable

Thank you for your review, and happy to say we now only offer plasticware when requested for take-out, and have replaced with silverware for eat-in offerings. And yes, our meals are all served in compostable containers, and "plastic" cups are actually created with plant fibers. Again, thank you for your feedback, and grateful for you and others for bringing attention to anything Globowl Cafe can do to reduce carbon footprint!

Delicious vegan brunch - Edit
Stopped for Sunday Brunch on our way out of town. Multiple vegan breakfast options (I think all were?). We got the globowl breakfast bowl because we were really feeling a tofu scramble that morning. Chai and Matcha lattes were very flavorful and served in cute compostable containers!

Great place! - Edit
This is our "go-to" lunch spot for weekly Lexington trips. Working our way through the long menu, and each bowl is better than the last. What a relief to have a place in town again with an emphasis on whole foods, simply prepared. I would give it 5 stars but Happy Cow reserves that rating for veg only places.

Lucky to find on a quick stroll - Edit
I was visiting Lexington and decided to walk around the Main Street area before eating at a restaurant I found on google. As soon as I turned the corner, I saw the sign and immediately went in. I was excited to find a veg restaurant after searching online. It didn't matter what was on the menu, I was eating there! (The entire menu is vegetarian/vegan however they do offer salmon and chicken add-ons.)
Read moreI did arrive about 7 minutes after they closed but the owners were gracious enough to fix me something. The Bombay and Napoli were suggested but I ordered the Baja simply because it had guacamole on it. The food was prepared quickly and I walked to a local park to enjoy it. If I'm ever in Lexington again, I will definitely support this business again.
Pros: Quick, Good variety , Friendly staff
Cons: Could've used a touch more seasoning , Short hours

We truly enjoyed meeting and feeding you! Thank you for the feedback!
