It's ok, there's better choices. - Edit
Gladys is a food stall in the Edgewater Public Market. I've heard folks say it's great, but a close friend told me he got ill eating there. I decided to give it a shot, ordered a cookie and a Ruben. I was caught offguard by the "Living Wage Fee" that's not published or mentioned until after the order is placed, on top of the request for an additional tip. I don't understand the price deception or why they don't just adjust prices to give their workers a fair wage.
Read moreThe cookie was a Snickerdoodle that I believe was gluten free by the texture. The Ruben was rather greasy, the flavor was not bad, but like my friend I didn't feel well after. I believe the restaurant markets itself as vegan, but its possible I misunderstood and they had animal products in the food causing the discomfort.
Points for opening diagonal from a stall called Carnivore, I love the concept of the restaurant, just not a fan of hidden fees or food that makes me feel bad after.
Pros: They have a good concept for vegetarians, They're being chill across from Carnivore, The ordering process is easy
Cons: I felt ill after eating there, Not a fan of hidden prices, I thought they were vegan but doubting it.
