A bit flash for me - Edit
I had to remind myself of some restaurant etiquette here because I don’t really have any! Wasn’t expecting it to be nearly as fancy as it was.
Read moreWe got some pasta olives and a few glasses of vino and it was all amazing. Particularly the dish that shares the name of the restaurant, Fungi E tartufo, now that was special, some of the best vegan mushroom pasta I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some good vegan mushroom pasta.
Would come back, when I’ve got a higher paying job!
Pros: Excellent service, Fantastic dishes, Great location
Cons: Very expensive

All food & wine 🍷 - Edit
I wasn’t super hungry when I visited however the fungi pappardelle was recommended to me. On this occasion I only had the calamari however. Which was delicious with a nice Tuscan Chianti

Superb Vegan Fine Dining - Edit
I took a non vegan friend to Funghi for a special birthday.
Read moreI found the service to be attentive, professional and friendly without being overbearing.
The menu was extensive, both plant based meat/fish and wholefood options. I am not a fan of plant based meats, but good to see it available to those who do enjoy. There were plenty of choices for me, even given this.
The tortellini, eggplant I had was delicious, well presented and very filling.
This is a special place and i was delighted to find a fine dining, fully vegan restaurant.
Pros: Wide choice of vegan meals, Atmosphere and service, Size of meal

Okay - Edit
I'm not sure if this is just the night that we attended, but my experience here wasn't great. I was in a group of 4, and we were seated right near a door with people coming and going every two seconds. The service wasn't great and we kept needing to flag down people, and the food was okay but not amazing for the price. Based on the other reviews though I'm hoping it was a one off. I would come back again because they're a vegan venue which is amazing.

Special place - Edit
Great place to have a special meal. My daughter had the eggplant pasta and really enjoyed it. I had the lasagna which was a little disappointing. Predominantly pasta with sauce. Nothing really between layers. I still enjoyed the evening and the mushroom arancine were delicious.

Absolutely delicious - Edit
4.5 because it was quite pricey, thankfully I was leeching off of someone else 🤑
Read moreThe calamari was absolutely amazing. I kept munching on that for real. The carbonara, lasagna, pumpkin ravioli were so fricking good.
If I had my own law firm and made bank I'd come here everyday to eat dinner.

Disappointed - Edit
I was so excited to try this place after seeing all the reviews. However we were so disappointed to find everything was flavourless and way overpriced. $20 for a carpaccio that consisted of 5 slices of plantitude salami, half a bag of rocket and some cherry tomatoes. For that price I would've expected something that i cant get from the supermarket. I literally could've thrown that together at home for less. The carbonara was inedible. The truffle pasta was okay, but I attribute that to the truffle. I'm still perplexed how the pasta dishes were $30 each when they contained mockmeats from the supermarket. Just had zero effort or creativity. Service wasn't great either. Really disappointed.

Yes I was disappointed and unimpressed to the point of disbelief last time I came here. I’ll need a very good reason to return.

Delicious food, upmarket setting - Edit
I went for lunch and the place was quiet. It has an upmarket feel. The pasta I ordered was delicious, nice and creamy and had great flavour. I would definitely recommend this place for a date. The prices were high but this is to be expected given the quality of the food, the location, as well as general inflation.

Underwhelming - Edit
The menu online made this place sound too good to be true and unfortunately it was. We arrived about 8 minutes early for our reservation and were awkwardly told to come back at the exact time, not offered a drink or anything even though the place was totally empty. When we returned, a different staff member was very friendly though. Carpaccio was pretty good, but mains felt like something I could make at home which is not what we want for the high price point. It was nice to try once, but we wouldn’t go back with all the other great vegan options in Melbourne to try.

Super bad form making you leave and come back, particularly if there was room in the restaurant. Definitely not in keeping with the fine-dining standard you’d expect.

Amazing food. - Edit
I had the carbonara which was really tasty. My parents had gnocchi and risotto which were also good. Just wish I could have tried more dishes 😕. The service was super friendly and quick, they were really busy the whole time we were there. I'd definitely be back if I lived in Melbourne.

Great vegan Italian food, very authentic and delicious! Great atmosphere in trendy hardware lane. The calamari was so good, plus the truffle pasta and lasagne. The canolis - so good! Haven't been able to have that since I was non vegan in Venice 8 years ago!

Great Italian Food, Great Location - Edit
I'm happy whenever I have vegan options with truffle, and here I had the funghi e tartufo aranchine and parpardelle. The food was excellent, although I wish the truffle taste was a bit stronger. The restaurant is on a beautiful cozy street in Melbourne, definitely a great place for a date.

Better than Italy - Edit
We first ate here in 2022 and have been dreaming of coming back ever since (we live in Sydney) and boy oh boy was it everything we remembered and more. We recently travelled through Europe and Funghi’s pasta is even better than anything we tried in Italy. It’s THAT good. Highly recommend the meatballs, carbonara and eggplant pasta. If I lived in Melbourne I would be here every week!

Pros: Almost can’t believe the ‘Calamari’ is plant based, Eggplant tagliatelle dish, and cheesecake and panacotta desserts 👍
Cons: Pumpkin purée in gnocchi dish lacked flavour

Have to disagree on the calamari and panna cotta. The other dishes look delicious though.

It looks like Tiggy reviewed this restaurant back in December 2021 when it first opened, commenting on both the calamari and panna cotta then (so opinion not based on photos)...maybe those dishes are better now? Great to see a fully vegan restaurant being well supported.
