They have vegan options but that’s it, not my taste - Edit
I first visited in 2023 and was happier back then and would have given 3 stars. Just visited again and they removed the only vegan sauce (soy yogurt sauce) since then. When I asked why it’s not available anymore they said because of the low demand for it.
Read moreSo they offer 3 vegan knödel, herbs, leek and WOK (sweet and sour). Their website lists a forth seasonal pumpkin one but the printed menu does not list it as vegan and I asked the staff and they told me it contains eggs, so just 3 savory options (Edit: they confirmed by email that the seasonal pumpkin is vegan -.-, so I'm not confident in the staff knowing too much about the ingredients). While they are surely good I did not like them at all without any sauce, they were too dry for me. So I just ate 4 dry knödels without any sort of sauce (except for the really small portion of sweet and sour sauce that came with the WOK knödel).
You have to specify that you want your vegan knödel to be vegan as they would otherwise be prepared with butter and parmesan. It’s mentioned in the menu but I don’t like that I have to notice that and explicitly tell that when ordering something that should be vegan. The labeling in the menu is not great, there’s a section for the 3 savory vegan knödel (where you have to specify) and then the dessert knödel has a “!VEGAN!” labeling on the left side, so it’s not consistent. There’s a Krautsalat that’s also vegan as confirmed by the staff but is not labeled in the menu. Also online menu and printed menu do not match with the available options. The whole menu is a bit of a mess and not clearly labeled.
The non-vegan knödel sound much more creative so it seems they just offer vegans ones because “they have to have vegan options in 2024” which is generally good but it feels not great here.
The only good thing is the vegan dessert knödel.

3.5 stars. Specify vegan even if marked. Dessert knödel highly recommended - Edit
Knödel (a kind of bread bowl) are hard to find in Switzerland so finding vegan ones is a treat. Always specify vegan when ordering, even if they are marked vegan in the menu.
Read moreTwo knödels would be a pretty small portion (you can order more), but with salad dessert it's enough. And while the main dish knödels were good, the dessert knödel definitely was the highlight.
